Installing is no fun, but it gets the job done!
Bought this before starting some fairly major renovations - we were remodeling the downstairs, meaning everyone had to use the carpeted upstairs bathroom- a lot of foot traffic! The film was *not* easy to put into place; you definitely need a helper. For flat long areas, you can have them stand on the end of the piece while you crawl away with the rest of the roll. It's very important to walk or crawl over it to ensure good adhesion. The stairs were nothing short of a nightmare, but they were indeed doable with this film. It was very difficult to roll the film out without it sitting on the floor, making those vertical parts of the stairs nearly impossible to cover. The stickiness will linger on your hands, but went away after using some hand cleaner. The smell of the adhesive is also less than desirable, but only detectable while you're actually rolling it out.We had the film down for 2 weeks, and probably had half a dozen people walking over it on a regular basis. At the end, the plastic was almost totally opaque due to dust. Other than a small hole on one of the stairs, everything stayed intact. When we removed it, it pulled the carpets up a little more than I liked, but took very little "fuzz" with it.So in short- this film is a real PITA to lay down, but I seriously doubt that would improve with any other brand or similar product. (What you lose in installation ease you gain in durability.) It did the job and kept my carpets from being destroyed from construction dust and grime!

Would recommend...but
... it's a bit tricky to use. With that said, it's saved my carpet and I would definitely buy it again if I was moving again. I moved into a rental property and didn't want to trash the carpet with my movers bringing my things in. After putting this down, I could confidently know that they could wheel their dollies and handtruck's across it and walk across in their boots and my carpet would not be damaged. It did a great job, very strong and durable.Something to consider. There are some reviews that talked about it being a really sticky if left on the carpet for a long period of time. It wasn't on my carpet for more than two hours and it was perfect. I don't know that this is a long-term solution for someone needing carpet protection from pet issues and other spillage but it worked for what my needs were.I'm m only giving it 4 stars because the manufacture did not do a good job of making the role easy to start. It was very difficult to access the starting point. And that's very easily remedied by the manufacture putting a paper edging on the start point of the role as do packing tape manufacturers and others making similar sticky-type products. These guys fell short there.

Good for Pets with a Problem
Purchased to help us care for our old dog who has lost control of all of his rear end functioning. We try to get him outside but sometimes things are just not in sync. When that happens, it makes clean up a lot easier, doesn't seem to bother the dog at all, and has lasted a couple of months so far without having to be replaced. It is a little difficult to put down and it helps to have two persons involved. After a while, the fresh laid look wears off and you hardly notice it's there.

Great item, just as described
Great item, just as described, arrived quickly, and packaged well!I read a lot of reviews about it being hard to put down, so I was skeptical and concerned when I purchased it, especially for the application that I purchased it for.I drive Uber and I actually bought this for the carpet in my Mini-Van. I have stow and go seating which fold into the floor so I started by stowing all the seats so that I had just the floor to work with, but it is still not flat or smooth by any means like household carpet would be. I then popped the door entry trim off the edges of the carpet. Next I rolled out the film letting extra hang over each end as I went. I cut the edges to fit, cut the slots where seats go in and out of the floor, stuck the overage under the side panels, and then replaced the door trim helping to hold the edges down and the floor mats and it looked great.I did the whole job by myself in about one hour. It was MUCH easier and quicker than I thought it would be. With the heavy use that I get in my vehicle the film lasts about 3 months, but that is not an issue as I would say one roll of the film will easily cover the floor for 5 to 10 applications. With its intended use I would say it would perform even better!

Takes Time but Well Worth Protecting Your Carpets during Construction on Visitations
This is a great product if you can get down on your hands and knees and keep pushing forward as you roll out the tape and press it down on the carpet. It is very sticky and when you get to trimming the corners and tight spots in the closets, you need to practice and go very slowly but deliberately or the material will stick together and cause a mess. I have also found that when you finish an area, fold the material over so that the film does not go back on the roll as it is very hard to pull two feet of tape off a closed tube.

Keeps Cat from Peeing on carpet!
I use this product in a "different" way. My cat likes to pee right on the floor trim - the pee gets right between the carpet and the trim and it's impossible to clean that area without ripping up the carpet. So my solution - I put a barrier there. I place this plastic sheet between on the carpet and wrap it up over the trim and onto the wall. It stays perfectly without any tape. Catches all the cat pee - easy to wipe right off. I sometimes put vicks vapor rub right in the corner - that helps keep the cat from going there again, since they hate the smell and the texture. The plastic starts to get dirty and has trouble sticking after about a month - so I just replace it with a new sheet. My upstairs hallway looks ridiculous because the floor and trim are covered with plastic, but it's the only solution I can figure out besides getting rid of the cat.If you have a cat (or dog) that continues to pee in the exact same place: just cover it with carpet plastic. No smell, no stains - but you have to explain to all your guests why your home is covered in plastic.
