The Essence of Self-Realization: The Wisdom of Paramhansa Yogananda

I am a big fan of Pramhansa Yoganda. I beleive what he has to say is not only spiritaul but very accurate. This book is an easy read, with short chapters. However do not let the short chapters and sentences fool you. There is enough wisdom in this book for a lifetime. This book is a great read for the novice,a faithful practioner or even if you never heard of Parmhansa Yoganda. I have read so much about Paramhansa Yoganda and sometimes his books can be a bit overwhelming. Not this book! I highly recommend this book and if taken as a spiritual study can have positive profound influcence on you. I would have love to have met Parmhansa Yoganda in person, he is needed now more then ever.

J. Donald Walters, who became Swami Kriyananda, was one of Yogananda's closest disciples during the master's last years. Kriyananda took copious notes on what Yogananda said and later worked this material into books.I ordered three books by Kriyananda at the same time: "The Essence of Self-Realization," "Conversations with Yogananda," and "The Path." I read "The Path" first because it has a story--Kriyananda's own spiritual journey. But it's the other two books, which are collections of direct quotations, that I keep returning to.If you are unfamiliar with Yogananda, I would recommend "Essence" as the best introduction. If you want more, then continue with "Conversations."For me, these books have been a great aid to meditation and clarity.

I first bought this book in 2006, and the wisdom contained in it REALLY resonated with me, IMMEDIATELY. I fell in love with the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, and ended up buying just about every book he ever wrote. I was so unhappy with myself and with life in general at the time that I bought this book. But shortly after I started reading the book, my perspective on everything started to completely change. I have often said that Yogananda ended up "saving me from myself", and this book was what started the whole process. I HIGHLY recommend it. (It's easy reading too. The wisdom is in short segments.)

This is an inspired collection of gems of wisdom. Not to be read from cover to cover but to be dabbled in, picking and choosing topics of interest. I have read several of the writings of Paramhansa Yogananda and found them both profound and enjoyable. This is the most condensed collection of his ideas on a variety of subjects, and has come to be a favorite Yogananda resource.

An extra ordinary book that can answer to all possible questions in the matter of sprituality.An enlightened saint who is perceiving GOD directly knows every thing like God(with HİS permission).All his sayings are true and first realities..This book is a treasure for every one seeking GOD!

Paramhansa Yogananda once again demonstrates his abounding joy, grace, wisdom and warmth through this rapturous work. Master Yogananda has the uncanny ability to reach his readers/students with a most liberating and evocative style of teaching that melds unabridged clarity with singular wit. I don't mean to imply that he is flippant, but he will use the humor of irony to illuminate one's proclivities towards constipated thinking. 5 stars.

Good for you in the sense that it helps to clarify your awareness.

Snippets of guru's wisdom, some inviting to meditation. we are not talking about intellectually understanding but about a deeper, the inner one. The truth of his words can touch you only on the surface or much deeper. it always depends on how far you let it go inside you.

If you desire to attain self-realization, and want to know what are the essentials, this book will give you that.

Excellent book, the essence of which is the timeless and universal wisdom that " What you are looking for is inside of you!" just find and use the key to go there! Can't really comment on which of the organisations referred to, Ananda or SRF, better represent Yogananda, they both do a good job What l would say is that its always better to find the living Master of the day using your heart as the touchstone to verify him. That statement however in no way undermines the priceless wisdom and guidance Paramahansaji has to offer.l highly recommend this and most books on him!

I enjoyed the everyday references that Paramhansa uses to the wide range of subjects he writes about ! This is essential reading for those on the spiritual path & my go to book for help !

Alcune cose già presenti in altri libri di SK, ma comunque si tratta sempre di materiale di grande ispirazione.In questo libro le considerazioni di SK sono praticamente assenti, ci sono solo citazioni di Paramhansa Yogananda, riorganizzate per temi.L'edizione per kindle è molto ben curata, solo due o tre refusi in tutto il libro.
