Solid USB-C hub with power delivery + ethernet
We needed a few USB hubs with both power delivery, HDMI, USB, and ethernet. This was a perfect match and works great across Apple and Lenovo devices. Highly recommend.

Makes My Notebook A Capable Device, but has a Very Short Type-C Cable
I love my notebook, but it has a single Type-C connector and not much else by way of ports. The Hoo Too All-in-One Type-C Hub is the solution. It adds an Ethernet port, a Type-C charging output, an HDMI port, and three USB 3.0 ports to the notebook. That gives me just about all the functionality that I need. The issue with the Hoo Too USB Type-C Hub is one that is also shared with quite a number of Type-C Hubs--the Type-C cable is too short. That makes it more difficult to connect items to the hub and can place an unnecessary amount of strain on the cable and connector. It is not clear why these cables have to be so short. After all, the USB Type-C specification allows up to 1-meter (approximately three feet) of cable length for USB 3.1 Gen2. The Hoo Too Type-C cable is well under this--just a few inches in length. Amazon (and others) do sell USB Type-C extender cables and that's what I use with the Hoo Too USB Type-C Hub. So, despite the short cable length, the hub makes my notebook to be a capable and useful device.

Ethernet and power pass through don't work
I mainly got this expansion dock for the ethernet, power pass throug, and USB. The HDMI is a bonus for me. I thought having them all in one device would be a benefit. My laptop only has 3 USB-C ports, and I need to connect power, ethernet, some USB devices, and a thunderbolt device. The thunderbolt device has to take one port all to itself. The power adapter takes one port as well. Therefore, I needed to have a device that combined ethernet and USB, or power plus USB/Ethernet into one port in order to have enough ports. I thought this device would do all that and still leave me a spart USB-c port.Unfortunately, whenever I plug this in, then plug in the USB-C power adapter that came with my Dell XPS laptop, the laptop pops up a warning that I've connected an under-powered power supply. It says it is only 40 watts instead of the necessary 45 watts. The power supply itself is indeed 45 watts, but having the HooToo shuttle in the middle seems to rob it of 5 watts, even if nothing else is plugged into it.The Ethernet on this adapter also does not work at all. My laptop doesn't even recognize that it has an ethernet port. I've tried it both with and without an ethernet cable attached, and verified the ethernet itself is fully functional.I ended up getting a Startech ethernet adapter with power pass-through, and using it, I didn't have any problems. Basically, both power pass-through and ethernet work fine with my Startech adapter, but neither work on the HooToo. I can still use the HooToo dock for USB ports, so it's not a total loss, but you can get USB/HDMI without the ethernet and power pass through for cheaper.I recommend passing by this product to get one by a different brand, or be prepared to test and send it back if it doesn't work.

USB 3.0 or USB 3.1?
This is a nice little USB hub. I must admit that I am a bit stumped as to whether the hub provides connectivity at USB 3.0 speeds or USB 3.1 speeds though. There seem to be conflicting claims on the Amazon product page, the item's packaging and the information provided on the HooToo website. If anyone can enlighten me as to exactly what USB standard this device adheres to, I would love to know. There really is no obvious way of telling just by looking at the device. The product itself is very well constructed and compact. It's a solid piece of gear and provides something like a Swiss Army Knife for computers with USB 3.0+ ports. I ordered this one simply to expand the number of USB 3.0 ports on my Lenovo laptop. Mine only has USB-C 3.0 connectivity, so I probably would not notice the difference between a USB 3.0 and 3.1 device anyway. It would just be nice to know.I have not had occasion to use the HDMI output on the device as of yet, but this is something that I plan on carrying around in my laptop bag so that it will be available to me if I need it. I'm at a bit of a loss to explain why this hub with a USB-C connector on the end costs so much more than HooToo's hub with a regular USB 3.0 connector on it. Obviously, this model also has Ethernet and HDMI capabilities added to the additional ports, but is it really worth 3x as much money? Hard to say so far.Obviously, the price and ambiguity as to whether this device supports USB 3.0 or 3.1 are drawbacks, but I would still recommend the product. I'm just going to award it three stars instead of what could possibly be a five-star review if the price were lower or if they would make up their minds as to what USB revision the product supports.UPDATE: I've bumped up my review of this product to four stars based upon the manufacturer's response to my review. The USB 3.0 vs 3.1 issue was not a game changer to me, but it is nice to have the issue settled. As for the pricing issue, since almost all of the USB products sold in this country come from China, the playing field is pretty level for all Chinese manufacturers. If the tariff war we are currently in ever ends it will be interesting to see if prices end up going down for such products.
