Actually it was a cute story!!!
I don't know, but people need to lighten up a little bit. My daughters and I thought it was a cute story. This is a vain little girl that was kind of annoying in a funny way. Even the wolf found her hilarious I would say. My daughters know the real story of the Red Riding Hood and we found this one with a different tweak to it. I just don't understand why some people would say that it would be scary for kids. I think parents are the one that transfer those negative feelings. Use those opportunities for learning experiences rather than negative ones. Be open minded to different things in life... believe me, you will find life easier. Life is too short, find humor in it.

Try a different Point-of-View!
A favorite of my grandchildren! I read it to them after we watched a few cartoons of Little Red Riding Hood and compared the versions. A wonderful way to teach point-of-view in character writing for any student.Amazon: Honestly, Red Riding Hood Was Rotten!: The Story of Little Red Riding Hood as Told by the Wolf (The Other Side of the Story)

Not so rotten!
Great book! Every year, I use this with my third grade students to compare and contrast this version of the story with the original and their points of view. Definitely recommend!

My daughter loves the true story of the three little pigs, and this seemed to be a similar premise. This story is strange, not a fan.

My grand daughter love acting out the parts
My grand daughter love acting out the parts. I remember when this book first came out reading it to my six grade class. THey loved it and we used it to write our own version of fairy tales. Now retired my grand daughter and I enjoy acting it.

Fun to read
Fun especially if your children are familiar with the original fairy tales!

Great Read!
What a great perspective on a story we all know and love. We read this, "Lon Po Po: A Red Riding Hood from China" and a typical red riding hood story. It was great to look at alternative perspectives.

Great for Fairy Tale literacy topic.
I used this with a year 3 class as part of the Fairy Tales literacy topic. They really enjoyed the story and it gave a good opportunity to discuss point of view and moral choices. Would recommend to teachers or parents of children around fairy tale reading age. The illustrations are amusing, too. (Try The True Story of the Three Little Pigs for something similar which is also suitable for use with older pupils.)

No different to the original fairy tale
A good idea for a book but no different to the original fairy tale other than giving wolf’s ‘opinion’ on little red riding hood liking herself a bit too much. She’s hardly rotten in this book. Not an alternative version at all, just the same story told by the wolf.

Good book for use in school
Great book to use, as a teacher, alongside the Little Red Riding Hood traditional story for character work. It gets the children thinking about how to describe characters and what clues we get from a story about character. Personally, I am not keen on the type of illustrations in the book, but children like them.
