What is called "NEW" isn't really new.
I have a better suggestion. Read "The Nature of Personal Reality" by Jane Roberts published in 1974. You can get the book for free and the depth of knowledge you will find there will blow away most so called gurus today. Enjoy. I wonder how ancient the idea is that we create our own reality through what we believe. I suspect it is as old as religion itself.

I hated to give a one star
I am sure the author had good intentions, but I found myself disappointed and had buyers remorse over the purchase. I can't believe the reviews are so good. I found my self skipping pages just to get it over with. I felt like it took for ever to get to the point. I was expecting some real life changing material in here because he said he interview over two hundred of some of the greatest minds ever , but yet there was hardly any input on his interviews . How ever I did go to you tube and listen to the mediation which was very nice I give that a 4 star.

Not a good book.
The author talks a lot about himself and his personal life in making of the book.

Not worth the money
This book is nothing more than a ploy to get you to join their organization.

interesting but it got old
This book is a little hard to review because I have mixed opinions. I found the discussion of how much our thinking is influenced by cultural and societal rules to be very helpful, as was the discussion of the importance of balance in life. On the other hand, the constant name dropping got old, as did the repeated plugs for Mr. Lakhiani's company. The many description of his business success and his perfect wife and perfect life and how you can emulate him also started to sound like an old Kathie Lee Christmas special (for those old enough to remember her), although in his defense he was suggesting approaches that other people can follow. Many of the main themes of the book- meditation, gratitude, forgiveness, compassion, love, looking inward, being resistant to the turmoil of life- are not original and seem to come right out of ancient Buddhist, Stoic, or Epicurian teachings. So overall I think people's opinion of this book will vary a lot and will depend on how useful they find the valuable parts, how familiar they already are with Buddhism and Stoicism, and how much they want to learn about Mr. Lakhiani's life and company.

Good marketing and a nicely done clean cover caught my ...
Nothing new in this latest addition to the "self-help" and "leadership" genre of books. Good marketing and a nicely done clean cover caught my attention as one that is an avid reader - particularly of books focused on self-development. However, this one left me disappointed even after two reads. I also take issue with several of the strategies, but for the sake of brevity will focus on the "brules" and "blissipline" concepts. The author encourages readers to question rules; which on the surface is good, but the presumption being made is that all of the readers operate from the same level of morality and wisdom, which would give them the good judgment to pick and choose what works (at least for them). Simply, some societal conventions and mores serve a valid, meaningful and timeless purpose. Living within the "law" to make it simple is often the best path to freedom and not everyone has the ability or maturity to alter and redefine what is best for themselves or how they may interface with society on the whole. The concept of "blissipline" is another one that I have difficulty with as reality dictates that sometimes, despite the best efforts and intentions, life is just plain sour. There is struggle as a fundamental basis of life and usually, this results in goodness. Pursuing happiness and "learning" to find the (greater) good in everything, despite its value assignment as positive, negative or neutral is not only the mark of a mature human being, but is both important to the health of the individual and society as a whole. The notion of living one's "bliss" as a way of life can easily slip into the realm of the self-centered and insular. Where true "happiness" is enduring despite outcomes, "bliss" tends to be temporary (i.e., tied to a specific experience like the birth of a healthy child or getting a new job) and is not practical to attain, let alone maintain for most people once the luster rubs away. Nothing exciting - just a mix of new age humanist philosophies aimed at "millenials" and eastern traditions. The endless name dropping through the book is also tiresome and diminishes the authors credibility.

Love it or hate it - it's still an awesome read!
I loved this book so much i have listened to the entire book at least five times in a months time. I have read many of the one star reviews and honestly -i totally disagree with them. Most thoughts and ideas have already been thought by someone else. Vishen doesn't try and present his book as though all his thoughts are new ideas - this book is about his journey of growth and gives ensight into how he turned his life around by changing his thoughts of negativity to a world of endless possibilities. He refers you to others who inspired him along his path of inner growth in the hopes that you seek out those who inspire you as well. Your journey is your responsibility. And he even states in his introduction - you will either LOVE this book or HATE it. Buy the book even if you hate it - it's not the first book you "wasted" money on besides you can return the book. Gifted to someone you know would love it.

A Huge Disappointment
I really appreciate Mind Valley and the many on-line courses they offer. I was therefore so looking forward to this book. Sadly I was VERY disappointed. The book starts by telling you what you're going to learn in each chapter and every section, as in 'Here's where you'll learn . . .' and 'We'll explore how to . . .' which I found quite boring and wanted him to just get on with it. I mean, pages and pages of this stuff!!! (Kindle version) 'Now let's get started,' he writes. Thank goodness, at last I thought, but oh no!In part one he then starts talking about 'In chapter 1 you'll learn ... , in chapter 2 you'll learn ...' Just how much padding does this guy need to fill his book?!!!! He proceeds with then telling me what I have learnt from each chapter!!! Ahhh!!I persevere. Now I know why there is so much padding. There is nothing new in this book whatsoever. It's a very superficial understanding of how we put our mental maps together and filter the world through our belief systems (any book or course on NLP will explain this so much better, or for that matter any basic understanding of psychology). He then continues to talk about gratitude, forgiveness, happiness, and goal setting. There is no originality and it is peppered with self promotion. With all the amazing people he's met and the courses he's hosted I am surprised by the complete lack of any depth in this book. Sorry Vishen, I really like the on-line courses you offer (which I hasten to add are of other speakers) but the book was a huge disappointment.

Inspiration for intermediates
I bought this book based on the constant reference to it in Mindvalley webinars. I have read the first 80 or so pages. While there are some unique ideas for those who never read self help books, as an avid reader of top class self development books by the best, from Napoleon Hill to Dale Carnegie, to Rhonda Byrne, I found the ideas to be not of that calibre. Its eclectic borrowing of most ideas with a smattering of some food-for-thought ideas, seemed like a waste of my reading time. My schedule is busy, so I prefer reading really thought provoking ideas, and the idea of "doing your own thing and following your heart" is not new. Having said that, I genuinely enjoyed the 6 phase meditation on YouTube and encourage people to experience it. It's not at all the same in the book. There are some good ideas present, but I'm the kind of person who doesn't pliantly soak up ideas like a sponge. I prefer to chew on them. There are many ideas where I don't agree with Vishen at all! I therefore give this 3 stars.

Fantastic Book
I have read many many self help/ development books and this one has got to be the best. I literally could not put it down. It basically did not tell me anything I did not already know, but the author has framed the information in a very user friendly way. Well worth purchasing.

A beautiful journey. I hope many others are sharing it with me.
Time to start working part time instead of all the time and give a bit of my life to me.This book isn't a story, it is an inspiration and motivation to change.Power to the people, power to us.If we all buy this, it could be a revolution.
