I loved this at first because it really does look great hanging on my fence. But after 2 months it was clear this was not a good option for real plants. I had two planters with several herbs and a few flowers. The plants got plenty of water and sun but just did not do as well as my potted plants. All of them became either beyond saving or in need of transplant. Maybe ferns would be alright in these, as they can survive in shallow dirt, but anyone looking for a vertical herb garden stay away.
