Must have book for PBL!
I have been researching Project Based Learning for a while now. I was looking to purchase a book that would help me understand the big picture of PBL as well as organizing the details of a project. I was preparing to put together a professional development for the teachers in my school when I came across this book. It looked fantastic so I ordered it immediately. It was well worth it! This book is organized in a step by step basis that is easy to follow and has many links and templates so teachers can create a project that is standards based without much trouble. If you are thinking about buying this book- think no more- definitely get it!

Well written and easy to follow.
This book by the Buck Institute is very thorough, easy to follow and provides a step-by-step process for developing PBL for primary students and includes sample projects. There are also tips from the classroom and templates that can be copied for use in planning projects. The only problem is that I didn't want to hand write my information. A CD with templates would be a good addition. I did discover that you can download the same templates from BIE, so I have used their online resources. The information in the book is a good addition to the online resources.

Good book for a teacher's professional book shelf
I needed this book for a graduate class but when I'm finished using it I plan to keep it on my professional shelf because it has very practical information and includes forms that can be reused many times to plan projects. Though much of the information in the book can also be found on the BIE website, it is useful to have it in book form as well.

Read This if You Are New to PBL
My school is requiring PBL this year. We had some professional development on it, but it wasn't very helpful. This book is great!! The guidance this book provided made the planning process so much easier! While my grade level planned our fall PBL, I continuously referred back to the book for assistance. I'm so glad I found this great resource!

A must have in your PBL bag of tricks!
My school has gone PBL and while I have visited schools and had inservices, I have found this book to be the most valuable. It is user friendly and keeps you from having to reinvent the wheel every time you turn around. It was worth every penny ... and they were my pennies not the schools : )

Great information! However, not edited well.
The information in this product is very applicable to developing PBL for elementary age children. My problem with the book is not in the content, but in the editing. It would seem to reason a book about education should be one of the better edited books on the market. There are numerous goofs. Example, page 98, "Is everyone is doing their fair share of the work?", page 97, "Is your team is having any trouble." It just stands to reason that a book about education, espousing a new approach should be a very well edited book. After all if a student turned in a project with those grammatical errors a teacher would be all over them.

Good purchase
I was so happy to find a used copy of this book on amazon. It was such a good price compared to buying it directly from the PBL website and in perfect condition! I love learning the basics of PBL and the structure of the book is easy to follow.
