Variety of techniques and materials for success.
I liked the basic step-by-step approach, good for the absolute beginner.

Just the right book for this beginner!
After taking my first three watercolor classes from an artist I admire, I needed practical instruction! And got it from this little book. There’s a lot to learn and it would be hard to organize so I just set out to read it all. The author seems to know where to begin with me- at absolute zero. I very much enjoy the sample paintings, some I like very much, and often, it’s been a surprise to see how they made this or that happen in their painting. Some I would just like to see on my own wall! It has not instantly made me an artist, but it showed me steps to take to movea picture from my head to the paper. The paper, printing and especially the ring binding are just right. I would buy this for a friend and am glad I bought it for myself!

Just what the doctor ordered!
Essential book for the aspiring watercolorist. Very helpful and full of interesting and essential information about watercolor painting. Gave my own to an up-and-coming artist... and, this is the replacement.

Well written and illustrated
This was my first watercolor reference book and it's perfect for beginners and to refresh my memory about some of the more obscure techniques. I've given the book as gifts to friends who are interested in starting watercolor painting.

Dated techniques from the muddy generation
There is quite a lot of information introduced, but nothing very thoroughly explored. The artwork and techniques are dated, from a time when every artist seemed to paint with burnt this or umber that. I often think of this as the muddy generation, those artists who learned how to paint during the sixties and seventies with entirely too many earth tones. If you like that style, then this book may be for you. Styles change as cultures change, and that style used to turn me off to watercolor full stop. I prefer gemstone colors, rich and vibrant. I shall continue my search. There are plenty of styles to be observed with any pinterest or youtube search, though of course you risk falling down the rabbit hole with that route of research.

Excellent for beginners and as a reference book on watercoulour techniques
I like this book. I was searching Amazon for a book on watercolour painting that would help to complement my art lessons. Unfortunately for many of the available book I looked at the reviews were critical about the depth of content, either being too simple or too advanced. However, one review recommended the Watercolour Artist's Bible so I had a look. The reviews were good and it seemed to be what I was looking for.I am a beginner with watercolours and this book covers a host of techniques with clear descriptions and good colour illustrations. It is very comprehensive and an excellent reference book. The spiral binding is great as it will sit flat and remain open on the desk.I would certainly recommend this book.
