The 313 Collection marking the year and date of designer Cynthia Sakai’s birthday. Being that it is her big 30th this year, we wanted to celebrate by making a collection that includes all styles and techniques of Vita Fede. A modern blend of leather and metals and creative uses of metal with contemporary design aesthetic. Constantly inspired by her traveling, Cynthia expressed, “This collection is really about intricate metal work and new techniques of fusing metal alone or with leather.” 313 also features sterling silver as well as resin, snakeskin and precious metals. Describing the collection as “artistic, contemporary and unique,” Cynthia envisions the pieces worn alone for an understated effect or mixed, matched and layered for full impact. Expanding on this idea, the “Gathered” group contains several pieces that interlock so that they can be worn connected or separately. CYNTHIA SAKAI Basing Vita Fede’s timeless collections on life all around her, designer Cynthia Sakai is the creative force behind the brand. Cynthia was born in 1982 to Japanese parents in Pasadena, California. With her mom’s work experience with the Fendi family in Rome and her father’s career as an architect, fashion and art were in her blood from birth. Cynthia studied acting throughout childhood and high school, but when she realized that it was not her calling, she set her sights on the fashion industry. At age 18, she started her first accessories line Girlboy by Koco and found success with her small leather cases and handbags. By age 21, Cynthia started a multi-line showroom in Los Angeles and further explored her love of the fashion industry. When a friend gave her a beautiful Italian bracelet as a gift, Cynthia became intrigued with the detail and craftsmanship of the piece. Her interests soon shifted from the showroom to the possibility of designing her own collection, and she was on a plane to Italy within one week. Cynthia named her line Vita Fede from the Italian words for “life” and “faith”, and she has since traveled the world for inspiration. Each collection is a journey and reflection of the cultures, languages, architecture and natural scenery in the cities she has visited. Cynthia enjoys using raw materials in unique and special ways and often combines elements of past, present and future. A fusion of American, European and Asian culture, the Vita Fede look is classic and sophisticated with a modern rock twist.
