A Technical Death Metal Band That Sticks Out. And Is Worth Checking Out!
This Sacramento-based band, formerly known as Gary Busey Amber Alert, has just released their first full-length album. It's no surprise Unique Leader jumped on the opportunity to sign the band, there is much to unfold within this band. This music is best described as heavy and groovy, containing melodic riffs, both technical, and surprisingly teeth gnashing, with no (real) breakdowns, and confident solos that don't beg for attention, but reinforce the certainty poised by the structure of each song. The vocals resonate throughout this album, the felicitous higher pitch vocals are pleasantly unique. The deep vocals (growls) are nothing new, but the combination drive this album to a point where the listener will solely be conjecturing each and every breaking moment. The development of each song echoes throughout. The consistent measure attributed to this would be how the timing is intelligently formed to produce a well thought out sound, and solid manifestation of technical death metal.Normally lyrics are not a factor within my reviews, but the lyrics are there for a reason. So there is cause to take note. The only reason they are worth mentioning, is to the extent of how provocative the lyrics are. It tends to be a little overwhelming. It seems as if the band was trying too hard to be "brutal", where as they should let their musical talent (in which they have a great measure of) do all the talking."Vile Remnants" has a wide range of attributes that one cannot help but notice, from the heavy flow that encapsulates the first half of the song, to the transition that leads to a deadly sounding pinch harmonic section that teases one for a breakdown, only to deliver a mind bending cyclone of musical drama that will leave a noble impression. The solos are top notch. The melodic rhythm, and the heavy mood mold the song wonderfully."Ancients Retribution" has a implausible introduction, birthing a traditional but still unique blast of true technical death metal at best. This formula is the foundation to this song, as its riffs are cycled through the track at deliberate speed, and with bone crushing velocity. The song "Serpent Spire" carries some amazing characteristics of a heavy slam groove throughout. Its bold enough to incorporate this, while still staying true to some mighty solos and steady double bass. This bold combination consistently drills away at your cerebral matter while the guitar works tempo fluctuates its drive from fast, to slow, to fastest. If your brain is not dripping from your nose, you never had one. Each track is an amazing feat in how different and technical each member can contribute. Not a single track sounds similar to another. This is the true strength to this album, and much is now expected for a sequel.

Very good album. Imagine Necrophagist and Dying Fetus having a baby. Look forward to their next release!
