A must-have machine for nail lovers.
I use this unit regularly and it was worth every penny. I got it on Amazon for $20 less than what Sally Beauty had it for. I have used this to prep my nails for gel polish application, to "break the seal" of a gel top coat when soaking them off, and to adjust the acrylic nails I occasionally have put on. I don't think this unit is advertised to take care of acrylics, but it really does a great job shaving down the "lump" that grows out when you are due for a fill-in. This machine is so useful, I highly recommend getting it.

Nice for Starting out
I use this for acrylics, i do my own and my friends. It doesnt have the power that the pro has but its perfect for getting used to filing with a machine and it doesnt hurt if you hit skin with it on acciedent. I havent had to change the batteries yet (size C i beleive) and i am very satisfied with my first selection i feel like its preparing me for the pro, and its great to get the hang of doing nails with, but at the same time i wish i would have went for the pro.

Newer, but may not be better than the old model
Had the older, square-er model for about 10 years. The batteries exploded inside the battery compartment which destroyed the connection. Very sad day :(. This newer model seems to run quieter and spin faster than my previous Nail Genie Jr. It only requires two batteries instead of three. The redesign of the hand-held part makes it more comfortable to hold. It doesn't seem to work as efficiently/quickly as my old one. I don't like that the new box is just cardboard (previous box was plastic laminated heavier cardboard) and is too shallow to allow the device with attachments to fit inside for storage. This means I have to disassemble/reassemble the machine every time I use/put away the device. Before, it was much easy to open the box, insert the attachments and do my nails. Now I have to open the box, take out all the parts, assemble the machine, use it and take it all apart again. However, the same design I had before was about USD20 more than I paid for the new design, so there's that. Overall I am pleased I bought this Nail Genie.

Good but expectations not met
I rate this average because I expected the nail genie to have a little more power. Even with the slightest pressure, the drill slows down and loses the ability to file as I hoped.

Not for acrylic nails
I had purchased this after my previous one broke, and the quality went way down. The unit is light and feels breakable and eats through the batteries so quickly. It is not powerful enough to do acrylic nails easily without it taking a long time. The only thing that I would recommend this for would be for regular manicures.

Perfect little tool
I decided this year to save money by doing my own mani/pedis and this is the first item I invested in based on other reviews. It did not disappoint. It has multiple tips that shape, smooth and buff in a jiff. Ive been using it for a while on the same battery and it still works great. What a time-saver! I recommend this unit

Great tool, didn’t work
This was my second one, i love this little machine, but this particular one only worked for one day but then started to run super slow and then just stopped all together, had to throw it out, just bought a new one from Sally’s, with warranty, works great!
