Free Standing Pull Up Bar, Calisthenics Free-Standing Structure Adjustable Height SmartGym SG-13

I buy quite frequently on Amazon but this is the first product I am reviewing. This is an excellent piece of equipment for the price and is exactly what you'd expect. It can feel a bit shaky while working out on it but the design and build does is sturdy and does not feel cheap.While there are quite a few screws that need to be assembled it is very straightforward if you've ever assembled anything of the kind before.

Very well made and easy to make (60 mins max). Pleasantly surprised with the build quality!

Assembly & Tools:I'm not very handy and just assumed I'd get some cheap hex wrenches with the bar (as I did with similarly priced home fitness equipment I've purchased in the past), but that's not the case. It's not a big deal, but it would be nice if the product page actually listed the tools you'll need up-front, as I had to purchase them afterwards.In case others find this useful, to build this, you'll need tools to grip M8 (~13mm) & M10 (~17mm) nuts & bolts. You'll also need a tool to grip the other side, or the bolt will spin in place without tightening.For reference, I bought the following (came to a total of around £20):- Combination spanner (13mm)- Combination spanner (17mm)- Adjustable wrench (30mm max jaw size) (for holding the nut in place as I turned the bolt using the appropriately sized spanner).Instructions:The instructions are OK, but the quality & size of the diagrams could be better. Also, it's not ideally packaged -- the parts (100+ nuts & bolts) come in a single bag, which made separating & counting them all a bit of a chore. At least it came with some spare washers, which was nice!Took me about an hour to put it all together.The bar itself:I'm fairly happy with the quality. It doesn't bend or shake much under use assuming you've tightened the bolts enough, and you can attach the bar at a variety of heights. The bar height is not adjustable on the fly, but at least there's an option to detach & re-attach the bar as needed; in practice I'd imagine you'd screw it in at the preferred height and then leave it alone.The pull-up bar itself has a slightly rough finish and is about 100mm in circumference -- probably what you'd expect -- you can always add fat grips or other attachments if you want a thicker bar. There's no knurling. I'd personally have liked to see some knurling on the bar.Most people will not be able to hang from this bar with straight legs, but it's still a good 15-30cm higher than most door-mounted pull-up bars. For reference, I'm 6'6 (198cm) and with the bar fixed at its highest point, I have to bend my knees in a dead-hang. There's maybe 30cm of clearance from my knees to the floor. Still, this is much better than the old door-mounted pull-up bar I had -- I couldn't even do a proper dead-hang with that!Overall I'd say this is a good piece of kit.

This arrived ahead of schedule which was great. It took about an hour to put together so not too bad at all.It's a great piece of kit for being able to do all sorts of exercises at home. I also attached my gymnastic rings to it and it works great. Height of the bar can be adjusted to suit ceiling heights (worth checking the frame itself isn't too tall to fit where you want though!).Very happy so far and would absolutely recommend!

Everything fitted correctly. Sturdy and stable.

Decent rig that does the job it's intended for. Straight forward assembly and decent design. The height is the main selling point, it's tall enough so that your feet don't touch the ground. Sturdyness is a weak point unfortunately, there's a fair amount of wobble if it's not anchored to the ground. Thin box section steel means less sturdyness and less weight to keep it planted. Overall not bad for the price, but I wouldn't attempt a muscle up without bolting it to the ground.
