I honestly loved these watercolors! There were only 24 pans but the colors easily mixed into clean, transparent washes and nothing turned out muddy! While the quality is not quite artist grade, it is certainly student grade and as good as the cotman, lukas studio, sonnet, etc. I definitely liked using these watercolors but would not rebuy because I feel that they charged a bit high compared to other student grade watercolors at the same price. For the same price, you could buy the paul rubens 24 artist grade watercolor (or upgrade to 48 for 20 more dollars). The quality in that set is closer to professional, while these (altenew) are for craft times. If you can afford it, go for it, but if you are trying to get your money's worth, I would try the paul rubens or white nights 36 set for true artist grade quality. Additionally, these paints are noticeably smooth and have no granulation or texture, as they are for the craft crowd, not for fine artists. My last complaint is that there is no space at all to fit additional pans in the center area of the palette. This really annoys me as I have to drag around more supplies to get what I need when painting.UPDATE: After months of testing, I have to conclude that this product is only for people who want to play and have fun, not for beginners or serious watercolor artists. It is terrible, to be frank! Too many of the colors were mixed pigments, with some that don't even exist in the watercolor industry. One of the colors is a cobalt blue and white mixed together, like why give me a mix of that when I can make it myself. Most of the reds have a fugitive pigment in there. The colors look nice but are definitely NOT worth 49 dollars for a 24 set. Go with a better set of artist grade watercolors for that price. This is literally like prima and jane davenport all over- charging 30 dollars for a set of 12, and ending up with a piece of crap. To make matters worse, this company is very strict about returns, so after barely using this product 2 or 3 times, I have to keep it permanently. Honestly, I am not happy at all! If you buy this, swatch it once, and if you don't like it, RETURN IT IMMEDIATELY. They only allow returns 30 days after you first buy it unlike amazon and it has to be in a very good condition aka unused. They don't allow any used items to be returned nor will they give you back the money for the shipping and tax that you spent. Never have I ever had such a bad experience with a watercolor product. I take back everything I said above as things have changed. If you want this product exactly but cheaper, go with artsy 24 set watercolor (WHICH IS JUST AS TERRIBLE LOL). Go with a legitimate and trusted artist grade watercolor instead, you will enjoy it much more and see your skills in watercolor art improve.
