Bulb Works Fine But Instructions Would Be Helpful
If you're a DIYer, make sure to review some of the videos on replacing the U-shaped fluorescent bulbs with LEDs. These LED bulbs have a line side (L, the "hot" side) and 3 neutral sides (N1, N2 and N3). The holders for the bulbs are called tombstones due to their shape, and typically must be replaced with non-shunted tombstones (each side of the tombstone is separate vs the shunted where they are electrically connected). None of this is challenging, but it helps to know this, so you can have the parts when you do the work. Once all is re-wired the bulb works fine! They do include a sticker so it is clear that LED bulbs must be used, as opposed to fluorescent bulbs requiring a ballast. I found this useful.

Nice replacements
These were great replacements for the t-12 tubes that seem to be discontinued. Easy ballast removal and rewiring. Lights a little brighter though.

Direct replacement for my almost 20 year old U shaped FT40 40 watt bulbs
Not only are these priced right, they were a no-brainer install in my home office with a peaked 12 foot ceiling where I had installed 2 light fixtures 18 years ago. The florescent bulbs lasted about 4-5 years and it was a real pain to change them with an 8 foot ladder, move furniture and hang off a ladder to reach up. Those flor bulbs cost $10 each at HD so at $20 a piece for these LED lights, I am not only saving money, I should not have to change these for 25+ years! No more ladder. These are rated at 32W but they are about the same as my 40W florescents - cannot tell any brightness difference.I chose to remove the ballast and direct wire them which was easy if you have basic electrical knowledge - took about 15 minutes per light. Just cut the wires, wire nut them together to the white/black house wires and remove the ballast. These are T8 size which only means that the tube is a smaller diameter - it still fits the electrical connection the same way. The metal clip that holds the bended end is sized for the larger T12 bulb but this T8 bulb still rests inside of the clip - just not tight but it doesn't need to be tight. I guess you could bend the clip if you wanted to make it more snug but I don't see any reason for this unless the bulb is loose in the electrical contact area and mine were nice and snug.Only negative as others have stated is that they take a full second to come on after you flip the switch. My other LED lights in my house do not do this so I must assume this is probably related to the way these are engineered to work with or without a ballast so there is probably some circuitry logic inside the bulb that is doing its thing when you first flip the switch.

No wiring directions supplied.
Was a little surprised when I received the 8 bulbs. They were made to fit in a box that had NO packing inside. They were just tightly stuffed into a flimsy cardboard box. I then observed the packaging of each bulb in which many of the individual boxes were torn, almost as if they were possibly returned bulbs. I was a little hesitant to except the bulbs at this point.I then opened the boxes in which there are NO directions supplied so as to tell you how to wire the bulbs upon removing the ballast.I have some basic knowledge of electricity and was able to remove the ballast and then hardwire the bulbs. In my case I had two yellow wires and then two blue and two red wires that went to my old ballast. I cut all 6 wires that went to the ballast. I then put the two Yellow wires to the white wire and used a wire nut to twist all three wires together. I then put the two red wires, two blue wires and the black wire together and twisted all five wires together with a wire nut.The bulbs worked just fine. Very bright! It does take 1/2 a second for the lights to come on upon turning them on.Very disappointed there are no wiring directions. There are various types of wiring for various ballasts leaving a person stuck on knowing how to hardwire the led bulbs.Overall, lights work great and are brighter than my old bulbs.

Work well, but are not direct-install
These bulbs are marketed as direct install or ballast bypass. They did not work with the ballast installed. It only took about five minutes to remove/bypass the ballast with some wire nuts, and after that the bulbs worked great — much warmer than the previous bulbs we had. However, it is inaccurate to advertise these as direct install.

Great light quality light
Great physical match for old fluorescent bulbs. Since these bulbs rub directly off 120V you have to remove the old ballast that the old fluorescent tubes were driven off of and hook up the line voltage directly to the "tombstone" connectors into which the tube bulbs snap into in the fixture. If you cut the all the old original wires off the ballast right, you can simply use a wire nut to bypass the old ballast and not need any extra wire to do this conversation.Light quality is great, not too blue, not too red, a pleasing spectrum! They turn in instantly.

Direct wire replacement of 2 types of ballasts. Install was a breeze and looks great!
These things are great. No more buzzing from fluorescent bulbs and the daylight bright light really brightens up the rooms in the basement superbly.I had 2 styles of lights and ballasts, and these were a direct wire in for both. On the first 5 light fixtures, I wired in 2 yellow from ballast to the white/neutral wire. I then wired 4 blue and 4 red to the black/hot wire. The next 21 fixtures the ballasts only had 2 blue wires and 1 red wire. I wired the red to white/neutral and I wired 2 blue to the black/hot.Then put LED warning sticker on ballast cover, put the ballast cover back, installed the replacement LED lights, and closed the cover back up. I bought a 100 box of push wire 3 port and 6 port wire connectors to make the connection a breeze. Recommend those as much as the lights!Great light, should last years, no buzzing, less heat/danger.
