If the sax has a lyre holder near where the neck attaches, it will fit.

Q: Will this lyre fit on yamaha yas-280 alto saxophone?

The post on this lyre is 5mm (3/16 inches), to be safe measure the lyre box on your saxophone. Most saxophones will have a 5mm lyre box however there are some which have a 4mm (5/32 inches) lyre box, if your measurement comes in at 4mm then it will not fit. Regards,

Q: Is this supposed to be laquered? the one i got is bare brass, and tarnishes easily. it is branded yamaha, with usa stamped on the back.

Sorry! I don't recall whether it was supposed to laquered or not. I just know that it worked great when my husband needed to use it with his sax.

Q: Does it come with the screw to hold it in?

No. When I purchased it, a screw did not come with the product.
