A beautiful example of the Zen Spoonmaster's signature wood spoon and rest combination. He carves each to fit the other snug as a glove. This set began as an old piece of furniture, so the wood is stout and nicely aged. The wood is dense, says the ZSM, but not heavy. He thinks it's white pine, but he's not sure. Whatever it is, this cook's heirloom is gorgeously marked and took the textured carving of the rest, perfectly. All colors and grains are natural, enhanced by the Spoonmaster's own hand-rubbed mineral oil and beeswax finish. Beautiful as this kitchen sculpture is, the spoon was born to stir and mix and serve. The handle, like all Spoonmaster utensils, is graceful and comfortable in the hand, a plus for folks with grip challenges. As with all wood utensils, the more you use it, the better it gets. There'll never be another one like this one. It's branded on the rest back with the ZSM's mark. The rest is about 14" long, and about 5-3/4" wide at the broadest point. The spoon is about 9-1/2" long. Please hand wash each piece. The dishwasher is not a wood-friendly environment. The ZSM won't hold it against anyone if one or the other accidentally winds up in the dishwasher once or twice, but he'll feel sorry for the set. We include a hand-painted Kraft bag with sturdy handles for gifting.
