I have two large monitors on my desk at work, and behind them in the corner of my cubicle I have a shelf with a lamp on it. I can't reach the ON/OFF buttons of the lamp unless I move my monitors, which isn't really practical. I use this nifty pointer to reach over the monitors to operate the lamp every day. Not really its intended purpose, but it's exactly what I needed! The end extends/retracts smoothly, it's lightweight, and is pretty solidly made.

As a pointer that can be carried in your pocket, this is very satisfactory. Not too bulky, extends to a decent length, and the tip is rounded.The flaw is that it also tried to be a pen. 1: It takes too long to unscrew the tip for this to be practical. 2: Ironically, it did come unscrewed on it's own in my pocket. So if they made it to come off more quickly it would cause even more trouble. I plan to remove the ink at some point and than perhaps glue the tip on.

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist and I use this pointer to point to words and letters when my patient is doing an activity. I also use this with my Voice therapy patients when using melodic intoning along with a CD. My patients really take it serious when I wave this thing around during the singing/voice tasks we perform. I like the way it extends and I also use it with my alphabet letters on the wall near my desk for my patient to look at. Great item!

It is cheaply made pocket clip but it does work as described.

I use it to measure distance between balls on the Bocce court. Works great.
