I actually had trouble making the machine work initially and after reading the note in the box that said "it might not work" I began to think something was wrong with it. I persevered however and made sure it was connected to the right USB slot (3.0) and that Windows Media player wasn’t my default player for DVD's, Hey presto, it worked fine using the VLC media player. I then had an email from the seller who showed an active interest in customer satisfaction (without me contacting them) and I have to admit I found their honesty very refreshing. Its good as gold now and I will probably buy another for a friend.

Not redeemed any voucher in posting this review. It took a few weeks to arrive and The packaging could have been a little more robust, but thankfully it arrived in one piece. Is reasonably solid for what it is. Its an external disk drive with a pop out platform, so it's not going to be super thick. But it does what I want it to do. It plugged in and was recognised by my Dell laptop immediately. It plays CDs, even those that won't play on my old computer disk drive. I've been able to rip songs from it onto my computer and MP3 stick. It is perhaps a little slower than an integrated drive - but it does the job. Not yet played DVDs or games on it. A little noisy at times but liveable with. the flex stows away neatly. Would have liked it to be a little longer for manoeuvrability, but have managed. Altogether I'm happy with the purchase and it has been very easy and helpful to use.

I bought this as my Sony VAIO laptop has stopped playing DVDs, despite having done so quite happily in the past.I think this may be down to the installation of Windows 10, but anyway - I've not found a way to resolve this problem in spite of trying various 'fixes' described I've searched.Sadly I can't get this ROOFULL External DVD Drive to play discs either - I haven't returned it as I'm just so busy 'juggling too many plates' at the moment in terms of life & caring for dependants (!) & I haven't been able to devote more time to exploring whether the problem is with the laptop, rather than this external hard drive. Fortunately this hard drive didn't cost a lot of money, but frustrating to still not have found a solution!

Very good drive for the price and looks good and easy to set up just plug and play I am on windows 10 and had no problems with it.

Bought to support digitisation of music collection (50ish albums). Not used extensively but so far so good.Makes a reasonable amount of noise for a cd drive, reads relatively quickly and has been reliable for the purpose it was bought for.Would recommend for this kind of usage case. Decent value.
