Coleman Lantern book.
We gave this book to our son for Christmas. He has told us how much he is enjoying it. That says it all.

Useful, full of pleasant surprises
Best book I’ve read on gasoline pressure lanterns. If you think that I’m mistaken about the fuel, you need to first read book #3 (Lamp Fuels) in this series. Coleman fuel/camp fuel/white gas is all gasoline. The difference is percentage of octane and other additives included in the fuel.I’ve used kerosene lamps and lanterns and have a couple of Coleman fuel lanterns too. After reading this whole series of books, I’m more happy than ever about my Coleman lanterns. Much easier to light than kerosene, and...The big, exciting revelation to me was learning that these gasoline pressure lanterns emit LESS carbon monoxide than a kerosene pressure lantern and literally about HALF as much carbon monoxide as a non-pressurized, wick lamp/lantern (like your Dietz hurricane lantern or that glass Lamplight Farms beauty sitting on your mantle)!Coleman fuel lamps and lanterns were always and still are designed to be used indoors. One day some lawyers scared Coleman company so they started telling people not to use the lanterns indoors, but the lanterns are just as good as they ever were and the fuel hasn’t changed either so...Don’t argue with me just yet. Read this book first. It’ll answer your questions. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by all the good information in it. Demystifies model numbers and technology changes so that you can shop wisely.

Enjoyable book about beloved Coleman lanterns
I like to collect and use the old style Coleman lanterns like I used in Scouts years ago. This book does an outstanding job of telling the history of these lanterns, how they work, and how to maintain them. Good light reading (see what I did there?).

Well worth the money
Nicely written with much good information. The generator life/light output experiments conducted with unleaded automotive fuel and the CO experiments with different lamps was very helpful. One correction, the fount (fuel tank) was referred to as the "font" throughout the book. I'm guessing the author got bit by his editor on that, lol. Highly recommended!

Excellent much needed reference for a bargain price!
This is a great contemporary reference for anyone interested in Coleman gas lanterns, not just the prepping community. As far as I know, available literature is limited to a long out of print 1970’s book that sells for $100+ on eBay on the few occasions it shows up, so this is a tremendous bargain. Highly recommend.

If you collect or use semi-vintage Coleman lanterns you want ...
If you collect or use semi-vintage Coleman lanterns you want this book. So much of the information was new to me even after 40 years of using them. The information on fuels other than Coleman-brand naptha (white gas) is worth many times the price alone. Now if he would just expand his writing to include Coleman stoves.........

Love Coleman Lamps for camping
Why the fixation with Coleman, you ask? Just about any lantern or lamp that Coleman ever made can be put back into running order, due to a volume of spare parts on the after-market! This is a wealth of information on safety, use, and maintenance. This beautifully illustrated black & white, 70-page booklet is a fine addition to your non-electric lamp library and is a companion to the Author's book Kerosene Pressure Lamps. Enjoy!
