This is obviously being imported directly from the US and being sold 'as is', but without the warnings I would consider mandatory.1. It has points that are suited for the US power socket, so you'll have to get an adapter (US to Indian) to plug it into an Indian power socket2. It's output holes are also designed for US plugs, so once again, you need a reverse adapter (Indian to US) to use this3. And finally, it works on 120 volts, so you'll need a step-down transformer, which can introduce its own hum into the signal. Bummer!I'm finding that Amazon India is selling quite a lot of electric stuff, in all categories (and not just in musical equipment) that runs on US voltages, but without any mention of this anywhere in the product description.Shame on you, Amazon!

Gets the job done. No more ground loop buzz.
It gets the job done. Plain and simple. I used to have a nasty buzz in my stereo system that came and went, especially when I used the turntable. I had tried every configuration of power strips and electronics to no success. Finally bought this with some skepticism. Now I'm immensely satisfied with how it's completely eliminated the ground loop buzz. 100 dollars well spent. I plug in my stereo receiver to it.

Save yourself time and frustration and get this. It works!!
I recently bought a beastly iMac i7 with 16 gigs of ram. I couldn't wait to hook it up and get recording. So in a rush I hooked everything up, my Presonus fp10 (via firewire), my Yamaha Hsm80's, and other equipment. When I started my brand new iMac I could hear a high pitched whine. So I quickly opened Propellerheads Reason 6 and the whine got louder. When I changed the bitrate in Reason the whine changed pitches. And whenever I would mouse over any icons on the iMac it would make a strange am static jumble noise. I was so upset, to the point where all I could do is research the net to try and figure out a fix to the problem (not sleeping very much). I even went to Sam Ash Music and bought a Monster Power Conditioner with Clear Sound, but the noise was still there, very frustrating! So I tried it all, a new firewire cable, hooking up the computer on a separate outlet altogether, the list goes on. Then I came across a forum and read a post from a guy that had the same problem and got the Hum-x. I was desperate at this point, so I ordered it on amazon and got overnight shipping (which was only $5.00 more than I would have originally paid)and received the Hum-x in the mail. I hooked the Hum-x into my power conditioner then plugged my iMac in the Hum-x and started my computer. It was whisper quiet. Amazing! I am so happy that I came across this. It's perfectly safe! All it does is take out the (whatever hertz, i think 60 hertz) ground loop while keeping your equipment grounded and safe. All of the new iMac's have a radio frequency issue. It's either something to do with the LED screens or the Firewire/USB port in conjunction with external audio devices. Pretty much what happens is the iMac becomes a transmitter, very much like an am radio. So the power cable pretty much becomes an antenna and it picks up ground loop frequencies (yes i did a ton of research). I'm not sure who to blame for the problem (could be apple, could be Presonus) but who care's this fixed it! If you have this frustrating problem, save yourself the headache get the Hum-x! I did and it worked beautifully. You will actually restart your computer a few times just to make sure you're not somehow missing the annoying nightmarish Whine that whould just not go away. Farewell Whine, go cry to someone esle!! LOLThe Hum-x works!!

It actually works?!
I had a serious him and this little fella was my last ditch attempt to get rid of it. I tried a power conditioner and ferrite core, but the ground separation was what I really needed. Worked like a charm.Just make sure that you are using this for a 120 Hz ground loop and not EMI interference humming. As far as I'm aware, this only solves the ground loop issue.

iMac + Apogee Duet 2 + Yamaha HS50M + Hum X = Wonderful
Hallelujah! It worked! Here's the setup: my Apogee Duet 2 plugged in the USB port of my iMac, my Yamaha HS50M external monitors plugged into the balanced outputs of the Duet (using balanced cables mind you). There whenever the computer was on, ESPECIALLY when scrolling with the magic mouse, there was a low "digitized" sounding interference coming through the monitors that would correspond with either the scrolling of the mouse or the crunching of the Hard disk in the computer. It came through even when the monitors were muted or full blast. Terribly distracting when trying to mix!Talked to Apogee, the guy just said "Make sure your cables are all balanced" (which they are). Zero help. Tried moving things around, making sure cables weren't crossed, tried using a cable with the ground lifted, tried putting everything on the same power strip, plugged into different power strips, different outlets in the room - No change. Did some research and learned that this problem has something to do with the way the iMac grounding works, such that it sends interference through the electrical ground that the monitors pick up. Came across this product, and found it available at a local Guitar Center (so I could pick it up same day). Went to get it, and they were out of stock! I explained the issue to the guy there, and he said he's found that those kind of problems are usually related to power quality, and that a power conditioner is the way to go. So, feeling exasperated at this point, decided to try it. Brought it home, plugged everything into this clean power and....nothing. No change. Still the same problem. I was ready to send everything back and just give up.Went back to my research once more and things kept pointing to the Hum X. The price seemed a bit high for such a little thing, but the power conditioner cost quite a bit more than this (which I returned by the way). So, purchased from Amazon, even bit on the next day shipping (which I NEVER do) convinced that this was my last chance. With a nervous hand and a prayer in my heart I plugged my iMac into the Hum X and thank the Lord, it worked! No more noise, no more interference! I cried tears of joy knowing that I could now mix my audio in peace! This may or may not work in all applications, but it sure worked in mine. From what I've read as well, the issue is with the iMac. So, if you have external monitors connected to an iMac one way or another and are getting weird noise when you scroll the mouse or the hard disk is running...look no further! The price is well worth it!
