The reclusive Zen Spoonmaster of Hungry Holler has long elevated wood spoons to useful art and now he does it literally. This two-tone kitchen sculpture is a wood spoon and rest combination like no other. The spoon-rest-on-legs is walnut, a wood long-prized by furniture and musical instrument makers. The spoon is maple. The ZSM carves his utensils with an artist's eye and a cook's utility. Objects used every day should be beautiful. This one-of-a-kind set will become a beloved family heirloom, passed from one generation of cooks to another. The Spoonmaster repurposed old walnut and maple furniture to create the piece, carving the spoon to fit snug as a glove in the bench rest. All colors and grains are natural, enhanced by his hand-rubbed mineral oil and beeswax finish. He's branded each piece with his mark. The set stands just over 2 inches tall, and about 8 inches long overall. The graceful curved-handled spoon is about 7 inches long, carved with ergonomics in mind. Many folks with grip challenges find ZSM utensils a comfort. As with all wood utensils, the more you use it, the better it gets. Please hand wash each piece. The dishwasher is not a wood-friendly environment. The Spoonmaster won't hold it against you if the pieces accidentally wind up in the dishwasher once or twice, but he'll feel sorry for the wood. A hand-painted kraft bag with sturdy handles is included so you're good for gifting.
