Learn German: Word Power 101: Absolute Beginner German #4

This was really cheap, so I bought it just to see how much I could remember from school - 30 years ago! I enjoyed flicking through the pages. Nice illustrations and simple layout. I think my son will enjoy learning words if/when he starts German at school, or indeed just for fun at home. Would not have bought if needed for academic purposes as a little on the basic side.

It is OK. I think I expected more than the list of animals and then sentences like 'the striped snake'. Is it useful vocab? Yes if you visit a zoo, but for visiting Germany, I have my doubts. Having done O level German 40 years ago, I remember some vocab so this is reminding me of other words but not helping sentence construction.

I'm trying to learn more about the German language and found a few useful phrases in this book. However it is very basic, and it would have been helpful to have some phonetic examples to demonstrate how to pronounce some of the words. However there is a free link to an audio version, which maybe helpful.

I like the book as 'new to German' reader and speaker, I found it useful to read words in German with the translation in English below, I was not able to find the promised free audio online to go with the book which would have helped my pronounciation of words and phrases.

Great idea, is to learn a language whilst in hospital. Contains useful everyday, common words and phrases. Would find it very useful if there were the phonetics to help with the pronunciation of words and phrases.
