PET Palace Cat Tree Kitten Activity Tower Condo with Perches, Scratching Posts, and Squeaking Mice, APL1342, Brown

UPDATE: About 2 months in and the top saddle part fell off while our 8-lb cat was playing on it. It just fell off, but the screw was still in the column, so I guess the threading broke around the screw. That's unacceptable and we will not buy another tower from this manufacturer.--The tower looks good and is super easy to construct, but it is a bit wobbly, even without a cat on it. Ours (who weighs less than 7 pounds) has thus far avoided the upper tiers and we think it's due to how shaky this tower is. We even have weights on the base help hold it, and it doesn't make a difference.The wobbliness ties into the only other issue I have with it: Uneven boundaries. The edges of the second tier platform and the base can't align evenly, so it can't be put flush against a wall. If it could, it would be easy to use an L-bracket or something to stabilize the whole tower. Another solution to both problems would be a wider, sturdier base.

Unfortunately returning this item due to poor layout design which causes the cat tree to be wobbly no matter how tight the screws are. All 3 of my cats are petrified of it because it tips over when using it, no matter whether I push it up against the wall in a position that should hold. It's good quality material however and very soft. My cats did enjoy the motion activated mice while they were on the ground during set up.

Company does not respond to issues well and product was missing a top scratching post and if I didn't have my screw gun and ability to construct things myself I wouldn't have a well made product

My little Saga, loves his perch even though it seems like he's too long for it already (I guess he's tried to fit into smaller spaces). But that's about the only good thing about it. I wanted to give it a bit of time before I reviewed. It looked nice when I put it together out of the box. The carpet was soft. The rope seemed well attached. But it tips over with out the wall and cabinet to lean on, without the cat even on it. We've had it about a month give or take and it's completely falling apart. Two of three mice fell off the first day (which I can't say I was too mad at as their squeaking was a tad annoying). The ramp isn't really too functional as a ramp. He just climbed over it anyway, so I attached it to the wall since he likes to paw at corners/walls. Works as a little scratch pad. The plush from the carpet is falling out in patches, the ropes on the posts are starting to detach. I can hot glue the ropes back on but I shouldn't be having to ALREADY. My 3 pound 3 month old tux isn't very active on the tree (he'd rather run kitty nascar around the house). He uses it mainly to perch and climb up to his food. I'm slightly disappointed. Honestly, I'd send it back if I'd didn't seem like a hassle. I guess it's be good as a temporary distraction for a tiny kitten. But if you have an adult cat that needs to scratch or bite or murder something, an active kitty, I don't recommend this tree. You're better off going to a shop and checking one out in person.

To start this review off OUR CAT LOVES HIS NEW TREE.....I took off 2 stars because it is very wobbly. The cat weights about 12 lbs and when he climbs or even scratches on the post the entire tree moves. I know it isn't just this brand of tree because the smaller one we owned prior was a different brand and it was the same way. I think it is because the base square of wood isn't big enough to hold the weight of the tree and a cat. That is the only thing I have to say negative about this product because other than that it is perfect height and looks very nice.

Update: My cats absolutely love this tree. They make a game at running under and hitting the hanging mouse. All the mice on mine need replacement strings as they've been killed a thousand times now. lol The tree is however VERY WOBBLY. Might suggest affixing parts with hot glue during assembly and propping it in a corner. At 9 months old my cats did not fit in the bed area. Now at a year old they almost dwarf the tree. I'll keep it around until they either rip the scratch posts to shreds (which they love doing) or it becomes too unstable for their growing behinds.Excellent cat tree! Easy to assemble - took about 7 minutes. I will note that you need to read the description. This is for kittens and young cats, not fully grown cats. As my cat is only 9 months old, and the apparent runt of the litter, it works out, but I'll have to invest in something larger eventually. Great starter tree though!! The mice are really cool!

I wish I paid attention to the negative reviews. This cat tree is VERY unstable. If you have a medium or large size cat, do not buy. The U shaped section at the top would fit a small cat or kitten, but nothing bigger. I have it in a corner for now, but it's not a permanent spot (I was planning to have it by a window, but it needs support from two sides or it will topple over. Also, the mice have batteries in them. As I just put this together yesterday I haven't had a chance to see if I can take them out - yes they make noise and my cat occasionally plays with them, but it makes me nervous having something that my cat will be chewing on full of batteries. (I'm assuming they are the small ones, since there were plastic tabs that we pulled out to activate the toy.)

Product arrived as schedualed. It was easy to put together. The quality and size are great for our needs. The preattatched mice work great when swatted. The bottom cubby area with the attatched ramp is perfect for our elderly, 21 year old kitty. Our other kitty enjoys the upper levels.The poles are designed to be scratching posts. A very good value. Pet trees are very expensive in our local pet stores here.
