For hundreds of years, the Swiss have been among the most active and athletic people in Europe. Since watchmaking is Switzerland’s national industry, the country has a long tradition of sporting timepieces that have been designed for an active lifestyle. Created by founder Samuel Friedmann, Calibre timepieces were established in 1992 to bring the Swiss enthusiasm for sports and the outdoors to a world where watches were increasingly becoming an integral part of an active, casual lifestyle.Nineteen-ninety-two was a banner year for Swiss athletes. Marc Rosset won a gold medal in Men’s Singles Tennis at the Barcelona Summer Olympics, while Gustav Weder and Donat Acklin won gold for Switzerland at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville in the two-man bobsled competition. This was the same year that another high-caliber Swiss performance began to take shape: Calibre Collection timepieces. The Calibre Collection takes the Swiss sporting tradition, exemplified by Switzerland’s 1992 Olympic champions, and updates it for the 21st Century. Calibre timepieces are powered by precision Swiss-made movements and are the definition of a great sports watch. The Calibre vision was inspired by two Swiss traditions: watchmaking excellence and a love of athletic activity. These versatile timepieces are setting new standards for creativity, craftsmanship, and casual style. This sporty Calibre 'Sealander' men's watch is a sophisticated, practical and precise accessory. Encased in stainless steel, its beautiful blue dial features a minute track, luminous hands and a date window at the 3 o' clock position. Enhancing its appearance is a blue stainless steel unidirectional rotating bezel surrounding the dial. Soft black rubber straps comfortably close with a tang buckle for safe and secure all day wear. Powered by reliable Quartz movement and water resistant to 100 meters, it makes a great addition to any timepiece collection.

Large, easily readable face
Analog watches are all the rage among college students, I hear. To be precise, analog watches with huge faces. Stainless steel is prized over gold-tone, and the material of the band isn't important, whether metal links, leather, man-made material or whatever. So, my son likes this watch because of its face. Simple, easily readable, no complicated insets or dials and an eye-catching color. He did say he'll probably still wear his white G-Shock watch more often, because of the neutral color. But he wears black and dark grey quite often, and then he'll strap on this watch for the contrast.
