Word Roots: Learning the Building Blocks of Better Spelling & Vocabulary, Level B, Book 1

We implemented this book last year to replace straight spelling words as the vocabulary portion of our curriculum. Learning word roots, prefixes and suffixes is part of the Common Core standards for language arts. My students (8th grade) loved working through this book. They worked together on the exercises in class, quizzed each other with handmade flash cards, and most of the time, aced the quizzes we gave them. We could see our kids making connections with new words or words they had come across in other contexts based on the roots they learned from this book. I highly recommend it as a very accessible way to introduce this into your curriculum plan.

I found this textbook to be an excellent help in preparing for the GRE vocabulary portion. The exercises and repetition were helpful in ingraining the concepts and roots that help to decipher unfamiliar words. I highly recommend this book for GRE prep and home schoolers.

Good condition

I gave this to my 14 year old grandson for Christmas, and surprise, surprise, he was thrilled to receive it. I don't know how much he has used it, but he did realize how much he needs it.

This book is beneficial for ages 8-12; key support for students who don't have a lot of background in prefixes, roots, or suffixes. Helps to unlock the meaning of more complicated and polysyllabic words.

We used this with our older home schooled kids and are enjoying using it again!
