It certainly exceeded my expectations in terms of build quality and design. The camera fits in so snuggly it was a bit of a challenge getting it out again, but I should think as the padding beds in this will get easier as time goes on. From a static tripod or rigidly attached bike mount viewpoint it will be just the job. I had been searching for a replacement cover which had a hole for the USB-C plug and came across this which comes with such a cover/door and this is for use on long bike rides. Whether I use the frame on my bike or continue with my 3D printed equivalent is debatable, as the latter provides additional protection for the cable/plug as well as being far lighter, but no protection for the lens.I noted the weight before buying it so assumed that the increase (not far off the weight of the camera and battery itself) could be problematical for a headband mount for running due to the inertia almost being doubled. This is the penalty for having metal frame protection.The filter thread is well machined and filters screw in and out nicely, so this certainly affords protection to the camera optics.In conclusion I'm impressed and satisfied.

Much better than I was expecting for the price. Not the cheapest case out there, but made of extremely well engineered metal so worth the extra cost I think. Even the fixings have been thought about, with spring washers to prevent loosening over time, and bezel-topped hex nuts to help fingers to grip them. My Hero 11 fits perfectly inside. Nothing to complain about here, and everything to like.

The case looks really sturdy and made of high quality. However, when mine arrived it was missing the side door and cannot be bothered to return it or wait for one to be shipped so i’ll probably end up buying a new one which makes the overall case a lot more expensive.

Read all the reviews and it was exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately the side door was missing from the sealed box. As in most likely not included right from the factory. The seal looked original. Obviously I could send it back but the timing would be incredibly inconvenient. And as returning it was the only option it was easier to order a separate door at £15 . Shame I can’t get in touch with the supplier to send out a side door.So while I’m happy with the cage the missing part is extremely annoying. So I’m going to mark low for that

I shoot video using a few different action cams from Insta360 and Sony to my GoPros. Currently my main GoPro cameras are a Max, an 11, and the new 12. I like the metal cages when mounting my cameras in precarious situations, both for really providing a secure mount as well as a little extra protection should one break loose. I've tried a couple different ones over the years, finally settling on a favorite made by Ulanzi. While it does work well, this camera cage provides an incredibly useful feature my other one doesn't, and that's the ability to use standard 52mm filters.Pros:+ Tough all aluminum cage with cold shoe mount and easy button access.+ Allows the use of any 52mm filter, and it comes with a UV filter and lens cap.+ 1/4" threaded hole on the bottom, as well as GoPro style adapter if you want to use that.+ Comes with a nice replacement battery door with a USB-C passthrough for charging.Cons:- Price is slightly higher than others offering similar features, but those do not also include a battery door.- Back panel doesn't lock in but is secured by a ball bearing under tension. I haven't had it come loose yet, but in a crash, I could see it flying off.- This style due to the filter option will of course not allow the use of the Max lens mod.Overall, while it seems like I've listed nearly as many cons as pros, they really don't hold the same weight and this case does what it says exceptionally well. It is a very complete kit, and when factoring in the full package, really pricewise it is basically on-par with others like it. In the end I'm happy with the cage and having the ability to use an 52mm filter I want makes any minor issues it may have seem trivial. If you're looking for a little more creative control out of your GoPro, you should give this product serious consideration.
