Don't expect too much and it's fine
I'm neither elderly nor injured, just middle-aged and extremely sedentary. I'm trying to become more active, but starting slow because otherwise I'll give up. So I found a nice low-impact workout online, and also bought this. Read lots of reviews of this type of product first, and it's pretty much what I expected from reading. Although there's a definite difference in resistance between just barely screwing the tension thing in and tightening it as far as you can, even at its most resistant it's not difficult for me. But I wasn't expecting a workout, I just wanted something that would encourage "active sitting", and it's been great for that. I put it down in front of my favorite chair, and whenever I'm reading or playing games on my tablet or watching tv, I can also pedal. Also, I did try using it with my arms with the resistance up as much as possible, and since those do a lot less labor than my legs, that actually did feel like a workout (still not an intense one, but it felt good). As reviews said, it can get hot, so bare feet may not be the best. And there are 2 settings on the stirrup strap length, but it's difficult to switch. I mostly pedal in socks. Others complained about these sliding around the floor too much, but I haven't had that trouble. I'm on parquet floors, but I'm mostly pedaling down, not forward, so it slides sometimes, but only a bit. And if it does, my feet are in the stirrups, so I just pause for a second, pull my legs back and drag the thing towards me again, and go back to pedaling.

It’s Amazing!
6 week’s post total knee replacement and I’ve used this device every day since day 3. At first 30 seconds to a minute in each direction was all I could execute but found I could add time with each use, initially I needed help getting the surgery leg in the pedal but that was only for a few days as my mobility increased. When in home PT started I would pedal in both directions for 10-20 minutes prior to the arrival of my therapist in order to “warm up” the joint. Every morning I do 30-40 minutes to start my day (1/2 forward & 1/2 backward) I was in pretty good shape going into surgery and my PT has said I’ve farther along in my mobility and flexibility than most people. I credit the peddler for some of my progress. For the first month I would start the day peddling- adding more time each day and follow it with 15-30 minutes of walking around the house, first with the walker and later the cane. Then would peddle 2-3 more times during the day. At five weeks I can navigate my home with out a cane, carefully climb the staircase in normal fashion and have resumed most normal and easy household chores. Easy meal prep, laundry, vacuuming, kitchen clean up. Yes,I have to pace myself as I tire easily, but I’m thankful this little device has contributed to my rehab.

Like others, this thing squeaks horribly
4/15 updateThey company contacted me and sent me the piece I was missing, also suggested that I oil the machine and cut back the foam. I did both and it has taken care of the squeak.Having the tension knob is definitely necessary, though I’m surprised that even with the knob it doesn’t become more difficult/or not as much as I’d hoped.Either way, I still enjoy having this to use on days when this is all I can physically manage. And I appreciate the companies customer service, reaching out to me and correcting the initial mistake in shipping (that’s the only reason they got 4 instead of 5, is the original shipping error and frustration it caused).Like others, this thing squeaks horribly! I thought, oh a little squeak, I can handle that.. but this is not a little squeak, it’s a big one!And mine did not come with the piece to tighten the resistance either! I tried to message the seller, no way to directly contact them. I wasn’t thrilled

Great for arms, okay for legs
This little machine is very fun! I bought this because my shoulders have much pain and need to build muscle. So I use this mostly with my arms. I have this machine standing against something for this use.I wasn't planning to use for the legs, but I must say it's so fun and enjoyable. But I will say, the more tension you use, the more mechanical the pedals become. It's kind of strange and nothing like a real bike or an exercise bike. Unless you use it for legs with very little tension, I'd say it's OK. If you're fine with little tension, then it's perfect!Assembly was a piece of cake. I think they try to make it as easy as possible and they succeeded at this! It took me about 2-3 minutes to put together. I'd really recommend this, more so for the arms. But also great for legs if not too much tension.

Perfect way to start or stay on the road of good health
My physical therapist recommended a Pedal Exerciser over a standard Exercycle. I needed exercise, and this was a way to restart my exercise program without fear of injury or discouragement. So I went looking on Amazon and found this one. No assembly--a real plus. A twist knob to increase or decrease tension. Little "feet" to stop skidding during pedaling. Totally portable and easily stored in a closet or corner of the room. All these things made for a successful experience. A wonderful experience! I pedal 30 minutes most days and am getting stronger all the time. This thing is wonderful! I highly recommend it for the reasons listed above AND because those of us coming back from injury or surgery often need low impact exercise, especially if we're on the road to recovery and need a good place to start. That was my need, and I soon will graduate back to my elliptical--and continue to use this pedaler! My only cautionary note: Those little skid protector feet do come off and turn as well. Just keep your eye on that happening and take care not to lose one of these little feet.
