Essential for any seaworthy inshore/offshore kayak
The best! Awesome product I have a total of 10 on my Hobie Outback. I originally only purchased one specifically for my drive pedals and got some cheaper thinner wire leash for my rod holders. But gave the competitor brand a vote of no confidence after I was able to break the wire cable with just my bare hands less then 20lbs of force. I fish primarily in San Diego bay and inshore up 300’ deep for Halibut, Yellowtail, bass and rock fish. Anything that goes overboard is lost for sure so everything that doesn’t float is tied down rods, VHF radio, pliers, sunglasses case… I have anchor riveted next to each factory rod holders attached to the hull of the kayak and also my livewell bait tank. I once had a friend flip 2miles offshore and had nothing tied down and lost everything drive seat and 2K in rods and reels. Hooked into either a giant ray or a shark with the drag tighten down and flipped him instantly fishing for rock fish 🎣

No brainer
Mirage drives are not only expensive but production is behind, so if you loose one you're gonna be paddling the old fashioned way for a while and pulling out the wallet. This goes on in seconds and its perfect. Might swap the buckles out for stainless steel but so far so good.

Nice product
Used this to leash the pedals to the rail on my 2022 Outback. Replaces an old style leash. This one takes up less room and looks great.

Works great with one noisy flaw
I don't know if my particular leash was sewn purposely the way I received it, but I would have sewn it differently. It has two straps that you velcro around an object such as an H-Rail. The issue I have is with the hook and mesh sides of the velcro. Now the strap is easy to wrap around and secure, but it leaves an entire side of the hook velcro on the inside of the secured strap loop that is now wrapped around whatever you secured the strap to. So any movement of the secured strap and you now have an annoying scratching sound made by the hook side of the velcro. On an H-rail it's very loud and obvious. So if mine was sewn defective, then it's defective. However If that's the way they make them, they need to change the way they are sewn to avoid the hook side left to rub on whatever the strap it tied to.

A must for owners of a mirage drive
A mirage drive is really expensive. This gives me peace of mind when putting my Hobie Mirage Eclipse in and out of the water. It’s sturdy so if my mirage drive falls over, I can just pull it back

You get what you pay for! Cheap is cheap!
Don’t use if kayaking in the ocean. The clip broke when my kayak was rolled by a wave when launching it at the beach. My 2020 Hobie Outback pedal drive was sitting on top of the kayak at the time and when the clip broke. My drive went out to sea!!!Very expensive lesson. The drive is close to $1,000.00. Spend a little more money and get a better leash.

Perfect with minor modifications
Overall this leash is quite nice and in my opinion better than the $37 Hobie leash. The only thing I didn’t like about it was the plastic clips securing the drive to the leash. I replaced both ends with stainless steel chain links which should be much stronger, which gives me confidence that my $1000 drive doesn’t end up at the bottom of a lake. Overall this is a must have if you have a drive that doesn’t float, which is the majority of them.

Gotta Secure that $500 Mirage Drive
I purchased my Hobie used and the last owner didn't have a leash for his mirage drive. I didn't think much of it until a recent trip going fishing in the ocean and one big swell knocked me around silly. I didn't roll it, but the mirage drive slipped off the side and luckily I was able to grab it before it went straight to the bottom. I checked the prices on replacing one of those and it was well over $500. So yea, I'm leashing that and my seat from now on.
