No, I got the size I normally do and it fits fine.

Q: Can an iPhone fit in this cardigan’s pocket without easily slipping out?

Personally, I would not be comfortable putting my Xr in the pocket and going about my business with it there. It will fit, but the sweater is very light and I think a phone could pretty easily fall out, plus it would weigh down the sweater because the material is so light. I have never tried carrying it there though except to quickly run into the grocery store.

Q: Is it long enough in back to cover your bum well?

Yes. The length is great. I wear mine over leggings and have full coverage.
