A Great Little Device
As an asthma sufferer I have spent some time researching available devices to ease or improve my breathing. When I came across this little device I was amazed to see how inexpensive it was compared to some other products that seemed to offer the same benefits. At the price I thought I had to give it a go and I am glad I did.It arrives in its own plastic 'wallet' with multi language instructions for setting it up and using. Each of the parts can be easily dismantled for cleaning, and there was no obvious smell or flavour to the soft mouthpiece. The resistance to air flow in and out is easily adjusted, both at the rounded end which holds a ball that can be moved further over a vent hole to allow more or less air in, and nearer the mouthpiece where a turn knuckle can be screwed in or out, again to make breathing resistance lesser or greater. The idea is to start at a low level of resistance and, breathing only through the mouthpiece for 25 times in the morning and again in the evening, exercise the lung muscles until they become stronger. I have only been doing this for a short time but I can see the advantages of doing this over a prolonged period. At first it is tempting to set the resistance higher so your lungs have to work harder - this can actually reduce oxygen flow and raise blood pressure so it is not advisable. My plan now is to start at a low level and build up resistance steadily so that improvements are felt over time.I consider this a great value product for anyone who wants to improve their lung capacity and effectiveness. I thoroughly recommend it.

Good product
I had been using a power breath some years ago which only trains muscles associated with inspiratory breath so I decided to search for a respiratory trainer that also provides resistance on expiritory breaths and this peace of equipment does just that. It provides resistance for both breathing in and out which trains different respiratory muscles. For example your core / abdominal muscles are also associated respiratory muscles and are exercised when forcing breath out into resistance along with particular muscles between the ribs (intercostals). This is a good piece of kit and easy to use, you can set different resistance for in & out breath. I am unable to comment on its effectiveness or any positive outcome as I have not committed to using on a daily bases, however used regularly it may improve breathing performance as respiratory muscle will react to strength training as any other skeletal muscle group would with resistance training. The price was also attractive seeing as the power breath units can be very expensive so that was also a plus.

Great for running, and for breathing issues
I guess I should say upfront that if there might be any medical reasons that using something like this could cause you difficulty, you should check with a doctor first...I got this to help improve my breathing when running and cycling. I use it for around 5 minutes every day, and I think it makes a difference. It is hard to say how much of a difference, but I have certainly noticed an improvement in my breathing capacity since using it. I have also gone for a few periods of time without using it, when I was on holiday, and again noticed a bit of a drop in performance as a result which picked back up when I went back to using it every day.It takes a bit of trial and error to get a setting that provides enough resistance to each breath without being too restrictive, but adjusting it is easy - just twist the dial and gradually keep adding resistance until you get to the right level for you. There are various similar things like this out there that are app enabled etc and I have no doubt they might give a bit more of a benefit over time - but they are also significantly more expensive than this little device and unless you are a professional or very very serious athlete, the difference is probably going to be negligible.Cleaning it is easy - just run it under hot water and wipe off.My grandad eventually got one of these too as he was struggling a bit with his breathing and had found he was starting to struggle just with going up and down the stairs. He uses it in the morning when he gets up, just sitting in bed using it for 5 minutes or so. He has noticed an immediate difference. He isn't going to be running marathons any time soon, but he is no longer struggling to breathe when going about his day to day activities.Given it is pretty inexpensive, I would definitely recommend giving it a shot if you want to improve your breathing a bit.

Helped my uncle with COPD
I bought this for my uncle (who has COPD) he struggles to talk without having coughing fits and gets out of breath very easily. With this pandemic we were more worried for him and looked into lung exercise and saw the reviews here saying how great it was so took a chance. Weeks on I asked him if it is working, he said "I don't know" but honestly when we would speak to him via telephone he would be choking and coughing throughout the whole conversation, and since using this, not once is he coughing or choking, so I believe it is helping and doing SOMETHING. All I know is we have noticed a change in his breathing and it has improved. So on that note this is highly recommended.
