Don't go looking for trouble, but if it finds you...
I cycle daily and apart from the odd close pass I rarely run into bother with other road users and have not really felt the need for 'evidential protection' which I consider to be the only genuine use for this kind of camera. Anything that happens in my forward field of view, I really should be able to see coming, but from behind is more difficult and last weekend I was subject to what I can only describe as a road rage incident for the crime of being a cyclist in the correct lane at a roundabout. Having refused to yield to an impatient driver who attempted to push into the left hand lane of traffic, I was then deliberately rammed by the same driver from behind, having my bike pushed for a couple of feet down the road. I'm pretty sure she only came to her senses as we were in a line of stationary vehicles and she ran out of room. With camera footage I would definitely have made a complaint to the Police. Without, and there being no damage or injury or photographic evidence it is just not worth the effort. The Fly 6 does everything I need. The quality is good enough to clearly identify number plates and the arc of coverage is perfect. It is easy to strap to the bike and to remove with different wedge options for different seat tube slopes and even a fitting for aero posts. It comes witha 8Gb card, usb and is literally ready to go out of the box with the simple housekeeping chore of setting the system time. 1 button turns it on so no fiddly settings, the only thing you can get wrong is to either point it the wrong way or forget to turn it on. It has a microphone, automatically loops to record over old footage when the card gets full and would appear to have a decent battery life, certainly enough for my maximum 2 hour rides and daily commute. The LED lights are also sufficiently bright for urban use without being retina searing overkill.Footage appears to be clear and not juddery on my hardtail mtb commuter. At night the car headlights do seem to overwhelm the sensor making number plates more difficult to discern. The microphone collects ambient noise, so make sure to speak up and clearly if you need your words recorded for some reason.

Great buy for a gadget-addict cyclist
Works well. Battery has a good life, lasts several good rides without charging. Light is bright and video is OK. Not crystal clear on big screen of course but video clip looks great when transferred to small screen like phone. So far I haven't needed the footage to catch any dangerous drivers luckily, but got some good film when out on club ride. Posted some still pics on Strava, which got some comments.Great buy for a gadget-addict cyclist like me!

Great light and daytime camers
Firstly, my thoughts on the light. It's fantastic, really bright and can be seen long by the vehicle coming from behind long before they reach you (day or night). The unit is quite a bit chunkier than I was expecting but I think the newer model is smaller and has a better camera. At the time of my purchase the newer version is twice as much. This items comes with a really good velcro strap to secure it to your bike and a couple of handy mounting spacers. It even comes with an SD card so can be used out of the box (once charged). The camera quality during bright clear daytime weather is pretty good. You can clearly see all traffic and read number plates clearly should you be unfortunate enough to need that information. This review has lost a star because the quality of the camera in low light and and night is very poor. While you can see the traffic, you cannot read any number plates and the brightness of vehicles headlights as they get close to you overwhelm the camera sensor. However, I wouldn't expect miracles at this price point (£75) and overall I am very happy with my purchase.

Does the job without requiring effort.
Bit expensive, but does what I want it to do - fit and forget.I don't want something that takes over my life, but if there is an incident I want to know that I've got the evidence, having been frustrated by having been threatened by deliberately aggressive drivers - and our cycling group has been subject to complaints by wreckless drivers who think that as they are momentarily inconvenienced by a group that this means they can overtake at speed on a blind corner and it is clearly the cyclists fault for forcing them into oncoming traffic that is driven off the road.Date set up is a bit weird and it is not obvious how to reset it (instructions refer to a mythical file on their support website) but in use it is simply a matter of switching it on and forgetting about it. Battery live without using the light was more than sufficient for an all day ride (8:30am to 4pm). Unsure what it will be like in winter. Picture quality stable and good enough to id vehicles and incidents.Footage is reviewed by removing card - easy enough. I've set up a charging point so simply plug in on the bike when I'm finished. Fitting is by velcro strap so at risk of theft if left on the bike in a vulnerable location, but is unobtrusive - looks like a rear light.

Invaluable
Easy to use. Even easier to fit and remove from bike. Which you need to do to avoid thieves.Great as a back light and just enough room on the seat post to fit along with saddle bag.I made two online reports to the police. I remarked I had video footage. Viewing the footage at home I was able to detail to the police exact location, time and car registration.I thought a front facing camera would be more useful but this rear view camera has already proven to me how invaluable it was.I wish now they did a fly 6 front. I'm not too keen on the fly 12 because of size and mount on the bike not quick and easy.

Superb piece of kit!
I've been using this for a while now, mainly on my solo rides. With a 32gb card installed, and the lights on low you can easily record 6 hours. Really pleased with the mount, which turns out is way better than the Aldi copy that caused a stir towards the end of last year. This model seems to get better reviews than the current Fly6, and is an absolute bargain of you can find one for less than £60. Highly recommended.

Great camera and super bright light!!
Pros:- Incredibly easy to install and use. It takes 5 seconds to securely attach it to my bike, which is great because I switch back and forth from my road bike to my commuter, sometimes multiple times a day. Just wrap the strap around, hold down the button for a second and you're ready to go!- Taillight is ridiculously bright - I think it's the brightest taillight I've ever seen. Seriously do not look directly at it.- Easy to review the video in nice little 10 minute chunks - it's actually pretty enjoyable to watch- Video is clear and high quality. You can easily identify make/model/color of cars. I live in a state where we don't have front license plates, so it doesn't matter to me that this camera doesn't read plates very well. (I also think that if a car actually hits you, it would be close enough that the camera might read the front plate if it has one. Someone else's review mentions that it can't read plates from 30-40 feet away, but why would you need it to do that?? A car 40 feet away didn't hit you.)Cons:- Still haven't figured out how to set the date/time. Seems like it should be easy but it's not - it doesn't seem to be set up for Chrome and that's all I have- Video cuts out sometimes- Only comes with Quickstart guide that doesn't explain how to get the best life out of the battery. I found a full instruction manual online that mentions you should run the battery all the way down between charges. That's a REALLY important piece of information and they should put it in the Quickstart guide!!Note: This would not fit on your bike if you ride with the saddle all the way down. On my bikes, I have a small saddle bag for tube/tools, and this camera fits perfectly below it, but my saddles are higher than a lot of people have theirs. This camera needs a couple inches of seatpost space.Overall, this is a fantastic product and I hope it lasts a long time - I ride close to 4,000 miles a year in all weather conditions so it's going to get a ton of use, and I will update this review if I find the camera doesn't have lasting quality.------UPDATE: 4 months/1,200 miles of use and abuse - rain, 100F heat, and 25F cold. I don't take good care of the battery - I don't run it down like you're supposed to, deciding that rather than worry about it, I'd buy a new camera whenever needed since the $140 isn't cost-prohibitive. I've also never reformatted it, which you're supposed to do regularly. VERDICT: The camera is working AWESOME, and it's one of the best pieces of bike equipment I've ever invested in. I have not ridden without it since I purchased it. The video cutting-out issue I mentioned above turned out to be an issue with my computer, not the camera.--------- UPDATE - 18 months and 4,500 miles - This camera is still 100% awesome. The battery will die when the temp is less than 20F, but I believe that's the case with this type of battery no matter what equipment it's in. Rain, sleet, heat, all good. I don't run the battery all the way down between charges and I don't format the card as often as I should. It works great. I've seen reviews on the newer model and they aren't as good - if I had to replace this, I would get the same model again.

Excellent in every aspect (except for its not-so-great resolution)
A brilliant concept and there's nothing else like it on the market. It's popular in my cycling club and I wish everyone had one to be able to report incidents with drivers. On the plus side, the picture quality is very good and stable even with some vibration on poor roads, the mounting is very solid but quick to dismantle, the battery life is superb, the lighting pattern is very visible, the SD card is easily removable, and most other cyclists won't even know they're being filmed. On the negative side, it's only 720p, not 1080p, so unfortunately license plates often can't be read on passing cars unless the car is bearing down right on you, and this is after all its primary job. Also, the AVI format is not easily viewable on the Mac; 5KPlayer and Movist do a better job than VLC with these files. The camera does a good job in low light conditions but the reality is that plates are very hard to read at dusk due to light reflection. But it's still an essential piece of gear and it works reliably.

Great idea
I have previously given the light to one of my sons, which he used to verify a complaint he made to the police.Hence I bough one for another son and his wife.
