This book is about how nutrition works in conjunction with athletics. It's about food relative to athletic activity. If you aren't a calorie counter and aren't interested in charts and graphs you might find this book to be unnecessary but there is still a lot of interesting info in it anyway. The book is very nicely designed and printed. If you need a gift for an athletic friend, including a kid because there is a section for kid athletes, this book would be fantastic.

Great book that refers to meta-analysis than individual analysis.Straightforward commentary with up to date references that disrupts long-standing myths and rumours.Great breakdown of data regarding the various athletes and their chosen sports, plus dietary information for both sexes and all ages.Very happy with the purchase and will be a good reference guide until the next edition.

Probably the best book I've bought in years.
Detailed, yet easy to digest. Probably the best book I've bought this year. It explains the science of nutrition in absorbable chunks.It's made losing weight understandable and easy to do, even as I tone and build muscle.If you're looking to understand how carbs, protein and fat, really affect your body, and how to maximise your exercise regime, then look no further. This is the book you want on your shelf.

If you want the facts on sports nutrition, they are all here
This is a great book for anyone wanting to know the real facts about sports nutrition rather than the nonsense floating around on social media. I would have given 5 stars but as it has been recently updated (8th ed) , it has some contradictions in the text between chapters. Anyone studying A Level or undergraduate level sport science would benefit from this book.

Best book on sports nutrition that I have read
Bought this as I really like Anita Bean's Runner's Cookbook and Vegetarian Athlete, and am very interested in correct nutrition to support my endurance running. I've previously read a lot of literature/other books on best eating strategies and this is by far the best. A detailed look at the science of energy production and use, and the requirements for different types of activity in a clear, comprehensive but non patronising format. I like being trusted to understand the 'why' not just the 'how'! Thoroughly recommend this book if you are at all interested in this.

Worth every penny.
Absolutely amazing. If this book came with a qualification it would be worth £1,000. You’ll find all the latest research and information in here as you would if you paid for an online course in Nutrition. Absolutely worth the money if you’re interested in better your nutrition knowledge.
