HWMS60UO 60-Inch Unfinished Solid Oak Mantel Shelf

It is not 6 foot long, it is five foot long, but it is well built and had the perfect depth for our application. I did augment the mounting board, which was two strips of 1/2 inch plywood glued together. I'm sure it would have been adequate but I wanted a more robust support so I shaved down a 48 inch 2x6 to just over 4 "real" inches and used that as support using screw style finish nails instead of those provided. But the finish on the product was spot on and after a stain and poly, it is just what I wanted.

This looks great over my fireplace. I ordered this unfinished so that I could stain it to match my floors and it came out beautiful. All my items that I purchase through Amazon where of good quality, great price and quick delivery. Thank you.

I wish I had read the reviews on this items as I do all others, as I did not take into account that the mantle may actually be short of the promised length. The piece is decent quality, however I was able to purchase an already finished item that is actually 6 feet and of nicer quality for half the price at a chain-type home improvement store ($75).

Poorly assembled, otherwise material was of good quality. Make sure of your inside dimension when ordering. I think I got the last one off the lot.

This was such a beautiful addition to our fireplace. Well made, the price was right. Shipped right away and was ready for stain when I got it. Love it.

Poor quality I can return it if i pay the return postage, also there is a restocking fee. By the time I pay all the fees and the postage , I decided to keep the item and put it in a yard sale.

While made of veneered plywood, the mantel is of good quality and finishing it was a breeze, good quality stain 2 applications and 3 coats of poly. The only negative is the method for hanging on wall, single piece of laminated ply (that was coming apart on one end). I didn't plan on using that method as it would require nails through the top. So I fabricated a french hanger that pulls the unit tight to the wall without any additional fasteners.

I bought this shelf in 5ft unfinnished to use as a mantle. First I stained it a warm brown and the wood just looked beautiful. However I then decided to paint it satin black so the color would pop better on the brick wall. Looks very nice. Classy. I love it.
