I have had several purchases on Amazon and been very frustrated with the quality of sound and reliability of the Shruthi box. Previous purchases would stop working in 2 weeks or would have the drone sounding sound.The sound of this electronic tambura/tanpura is genuinely good. Nice loud, bass sound to the lower tonic shadja and a clear high pitch sound to the higher tonic Shadja with a few different settings.Some other features that I found very interesting -a) Hindustani vs Carnatic changeable plucking setting of the selected notesb) Adding a 5th stringc) Metronomed) Autosave option to remember the last selected option despite turning off/unplugging the device.e) Clear instruction bookletf) 2nd India-US adaptorVery highly recommend. Slightly pricey at $150, but there is no cost to a Shruthi box failing when your kid is performing on stage. This is a proper semi-pro Shruthi box.
