Inspiring
This is a fantastic & very inspiring book! As a traveller, you will enjoy the great photographs of the most beautiful landscapes of Dolomiti; the photographs are simply perfect and James definitely deserves all the awards. As a photographer, you will be inspired to go and make the photos yourself. James gives all the necessary information about how to approach all the locations (including info concerning disabled access), suggests several viewpoints per locations, what time of year/day works the best (and why!) etc. The photographs are presented with all the useful technical information such as, camera and lens used, focal length, exposure information (ISO, shutter speed and aperture), filter or tripod used; last but not least, the month taken, which gives you a good idea about what conditions can you possibly await at the location. The book also includes some useful information about history, culture and wildlife of the area as well as tips on photography and mountain safety.

Easy to use, informative with excellent pictures and maps. Inspiring.
This is the 2nd book I have purchased from this author in readiness for an upcoming trip, and I am not disappointed. I wanted a guide that would help me get the most from a short trip. This book has it all; detailed maps, sunrise and sunset times, best time of day/night, best season. This guide covers a wide range of areas to photograph, some that are well off the beaten track and some that are very easy to access - perfect to provide options when on a short trip. I also found some very useful information about getting about in the Dolomite's and some general travel tips, which has saved me having to purchase any general travel guides for the area. The photography tips are brilliant, on top of all the advice on when to get the best light and conditions, there are excellent tips on what lens to use to capture the best image, and how including different local features will impact and create a different photo. This information is invaluable when on a short trip that I want to get the most from.Again, with this book, the authors experience and knowledge of all the areas covered shines through. It is a very user friendly book that I am sure all levels of photographers would benefit from using. The photographs are inspiring and captivating, and I hope to be able to apply the lessons learnt from using this guide to all my photography, but for now I am very excited about my upcoming trip to the Dolomite's.

More than photograpy, an excelent all round guide book.
Photographing the Dolomites. We spent eight days in the Dolomites this October and only visited a handful of the great locations listed in this book. One of the most useful 'guide books' I've read, with maps, images, how to get there instructions. It is aimed at photographers but highly recommended if you just want to hike and sight see.The Dolomites is a difficult area to get your head around and this book really helps.

Excellent Book.
It's been years since I bought a landscape photography related book, and as a freelance photographer, I can honestly say it will be a few more years before another is purchased.I very much doubt they will be comparable with this. This book is an excellent guide without the photography aspect, but stunning pictures and planning tips and info with regards to locations, and how, and when best to shoot them really wrap this book up.Excellent presentation all round, very satisfied with it and looking forward to returning to the region and burying my head in this guide again.

An excellent guide book for a photographer.
A very comprehensive and detailed guide book. I recently attended a photographic workshop run by the author, James Rushforth, where many of the areas in this guide were visited. However, were I to visit the Dolomites again on my own I am certain that the use of this guide would help enormously and I would be able to find any site I wished without difficulty and obtain suggestions for the best view point and time of day for photography.

Excellent book of amazing depth
Great maps with indication of where to take the most amazing pictures throughout a wide region. Text and images are of the highest quality. There is still a good amount of work left for the photographer so they can explore the area and vary the style of the pictures.
