Fatally flawed
I bought two of these. One of the reviews above mentions that the "repeat" buttons built into the left-click and right-click buttons (either side of the DPI button just behind the scroll wheel) are not programmable and are hard to avoid pressing. Since those buttons make it as if the clicking button is being held down, that is a real problem. With all the adjustment possible with this mouse I thought it would be easy to avoid pressing those buttons - how wrong I was.The adjustment of the thumb rest needs to be used to put your thumb in the best position for the thumb-operated buttons and that largely determines where your whole hand will be (not surprising when you think about it I suppose). For me that seems to mean that my fingers on the left & right click buttons are only just past the "repeat" buttons) so I end up pressing them often. Any attempt to adjust my grip leaves me with RSI pains in a short time. What I realised is that this design doesn't solve as many problems as you think it will - that's because you move the thumb-rest to the thumb-buttons and the rest of your hand falls wherever that leaves it. The buttons themselves don't move and that's what you really need - get the thumb buttons comfortable and then move the other buttons to fall in the right places under your other fingers. The other painful problem is when using the centre scroll wheel. The DPI button just behind it is shaped with a pair of little "horns" that point forwards, presumably for aesthetic reasons. They're supposed to run along the sides of the left- and right-click buttons, but they're not flush with the surfaces. This results in a lot of irritation of my index finger - there are a lot of nerve endings there so the feeling of abrasion is very quickly felt - two or three rolls of the wheel at most.Add to that the fact that the pinky rest is, for some reason, not a flat surface but is a downward-pointing V-shaped "dent", the whole thing adds up to sheer discomfort. Also, the so-called "pinky button" on the right side is unreachable for a pinky but is very reachable for the finger next to it therefore quite difficult to avoid pressing, since that finger has nowhere to go - the middle finger is on the right click button so the "ring" finger ends up on the pinky rest with the little finger. The strange thing is that my wife is ok with the mouse at the moment, albeit in her first day with it - she hasn't really had to use the scroll wheel yet. Since my hands are bigger than hers (I'm 6'2", she's 5'3") I would have expected that my fingers would be able to reach past the annoying "repeat" buttons, but the opposite seems to be true. That said, now and again she does accidentally click one and in a game that can be fatal. The "hat" 5-way button reserves it's straightforward press function for FPS-type games which reduces DPI (to allow micro-adjustment of the pointer). Only being programmable in the up/down/forward/back directions is very annoying in an action RPG like Diablo 3 where you only need to assign 4 keystrokes, 1 2 3 and 4 and the click on the hat button is an obvious candidate to be one of them.I can live without a pinky rest. And the scroll wheel abrasion in itself is bas enough that I couldn't use this mouse, but why, oh why did they not allow programming of all the buttons???? Especially the two "repeat" buttons that have little use in an MMO mouse anyway. So all in all, I agree with the review above. Since this is a software problem, they could fix this by releasing software that allows these buttons to be programmed (or at least switched off to do nothing would be fine). And they may as well allow the hat-press to be programmable as well - why not, it's supposed to be an MMO mouse so having FPS functions is fine, but not when they get in the way of its MMO use when software is the only thing that needs to be tweaked.I wouldn't hold out much hope though - this has been a complaint for a while so it seems that MadCatz do not intend to fix this. The final issue is that the adjuster for the thumb-rest's tilt has been replaced with a screw. So you'd need to get a screwdriver to change it rather than use the built-in hex key. Apparently MadCatz say this is to "reduce costs". Really? A mouse that's £90 to the customer should never do that, people are paying enough to have this as per the other RATs in the series. I wouldn't eve have known that the screw could adjust the tilt if I hadn't read it online. The mouse is too expensive to leave it on a shelf, so it will have to be my first return to Amazon - but that's why I buy from them, for their quibble-free returns service, even though I've never used it until now.By the way, it's also much smaller than you expect from the photos. How this mouse works out for you will depend mainly on how you hold it, the relative length of your index finger to your thumb, and whether or not the scraping of the scroll wheel with affect you. Don't believe, as I did, that all the customisation available means it can be adjusted to fit anyone - it just can't.Even if all those things are fine the other minor issues may still make this not the mouse for you. Disappointing - could/should have been great.

Avoid at all cost
I've had this mouse for 4mths and already the buttons on it have broken or are sticking, I've had 2 of these now both have failed with the same issue, that being the forwards/Back buttons shear off in use because they are made of cheap plastic. (Many have the same problem)Also the Microswitches used on this product are very very poor indeed and are prone to failure, and sticking. Something not acceptable for a gaming mouse.Sadly this seems to be a common thread with Saitek goods.Good functionality but appauling build quality and engineering.Consdiering the cost, and this is or was the most expensive production mouse on the market, for it to break after 4mths of use is appauling, especially on such a fundemental thing as the buttons on a gaming mouse.I've had cheap Microsoft mice that have lasted years longer than this thing. Its sad really the mouse itself feels nice and is adjustable, but sadly its simply not fit for purpose and lacks durability, which is a damn shame because its by far the best design for the overall feel of the thing in operation, and the software is second to none including Razer, but sadly they cut corners on componants. My first one failed in 4mths, the second in 10mths both with the same failure the forwards button sheared off in the same place, and many of the other buttons were starting to stick etc.I gave them the benefit of the doubt and got stung twice I strongly sugest you look elsewhere, as to my knowledge they don't have any regard for their customers complaints enough to change the design and fix the problems with their product. And you can forget Customer support they simply don't answer emails, there's not even a forum mainly I suspect because if they did it would be full of complaints.Like I said I agree with many of the comments here, its what suckered me into buying 2 of these things, right upto the point where you sneeze on them and they fell apart and both failed in the same manner.Nice mouse till the problems start, and its not a question of IF its WHEN.And for £90 I expect it to last alot longer than a few months.Expect the buttons to stick and or break off.Avoid! you have been warned.

Great Mouse
This mouse was bought to replace my warcraft MMO mouse that I have had for years and so far i'm not disappointed.Pros--Has a lot of preconfigured setups for most MMO's.-The 3 on the fly profiles and shift key give tons of button configurations.-The weights are adjustable, its a little heavy with them all on for my liking but very light with them off.-looks great sitting on the desk.Cons-- No visible way to see if the shift key is active or not but not a major problem.- The button layout will take a while to get used to unfortunately and this is coming from someone used to using 16-18 buttons on a mouse.- the pinkie rest supplied is a bit far forward for me-took me a while to figure out how to get the profiles working, nothing comes on disc, you need to download drivers and profiles.- Little jittery at high dpi, mouse can sometimes stick a little when making rapid movements but i find using it around 3500 dpi is fine.Overall im happy with my purchase and will see how it holds up in the long run.
