ThinkRecycling Heavy duty wall mounted Tin Can Crusher for food and drink cans

The media could not be loaded.  Never had a can crusher before. Its good - quite satisfying and saves loads of space in the recycling bags. This unit is fine, seems solid so far and more than capable of squashing drinks cans. Food cans are alot tougher but can be done if they are weakened first.Personally i would say everyone who uses cans should have one

Bought this to replace a different, cheaper brand given as a gift. The original just doesn't compare with this 'heavy duty' bit of kit and IMHO the original just wasn't up to the task. This one is of a much more solid construction and the crushing mechanism and riveting seem to be very robust in comparison. It easily crushes both 330ml & 500cl drinks cans without jamming and, if you follow the helpful instructions, it can (no pun intend) crush those thicker skinned food cans (the other one couldn't ). Plus fast delivery in excellent packaging so highly recommended. As noted by another reviewer if replacing another brand double check the screw holes first before fitting as only three of the four will line up initially.

Been using this a lot, to save space in the recycle bin. It does what it says and crushes down tin cans very nicely.It's looking pretty used now, but it's a tool not an ornament and to be expected. It has got a lot stiffer with use though. I initially thought this was wear and tear of the riveted joints, but after a bit of a clean and spot of oil it's working as new again. I'm satisfied this will last a good few years yet.Worth getting one of these if you do use a lot of cans!

Find something pretty sturdy to mount it on, and it helps if you just squash the can a little bit - just to break the 'structural integrity' of the can. I use it to crush beer cans mostly, and it is absolutely perfect for the job. Tougher cans, like beans or soup cans are more robust beasts but I think this is well up to the job - just remember to put a little bend in the side of the can before you put it in. So far, very happy.

After nearly a year, its still going strong. I was unsure due to the mixed reviews but it has made a big difference to us as we consume a lot of canned drinks and used to fill our recycling bin every collection. Now, we crush into a smaller indoor container which we only empty one per collection. I don't use it for canned goods (beans etc) as we don't use many and they might reduce the lifespan but for drinks cans, its perfect. The best approach is to slightly deform each can before crushing by squeezing it in the middle and it then requires minimal effort.

Originally ordered one of these but Amazon sent a cheaper alternative.Now we have the real thing. It is easy to tell that this is heavy duty just by the weight. It weighs a lot more than other crushers we've had. It does not bend. The rivets are solid. This thing is built to last and crushes cans no problem.With can crushers, you get what you pay for. It certainly was worthwhile paying for this bad boy.One minor thing, one of the screw holes (middle top) is in a slightly different position than the cheaper versions, but three other holes are more than enough to support it.

To make this work best you have to crush a juice can or crush the top end of a pet tin. It’s then so easy to crush the can or tin down with the crusher. Excellent buy. Well made- sturdy and solid. Would recommend.

This is nothing more than a drinks can crusher, anything more sturdy than that it really struggles with. I bought it because it stated it was heavy duty for drink and food cans, the 5 star reviews convinced me it would do what it claimed but the reality is it's no good for the cans I really wanted it for.Following the instructions for food cans just squashed the can in to the sides of the device and morphed it into a more difficult shape to put in to recycling.Our tests on different types of cans went as follows:Drinks Cans--------------1. Place can upright (Can fits OK)2. Pull down lever (Can crushes quite easily and reduces its footprint in the recycling bin)Food Cans:-------------1. Lay can down open end away from you (Must remove the open ended cut lid completely...if it was left partly on)2. Pull down lever (Can is unable to be crushed properly because it pushes in to the sides of the device when you pull the lever down, it often gets trapped and becomes difficult to pull out)3. Stand can upright (Can has trouble fitting in the device because of step 2 it's morphed in to an odd shape now but persevere to make it fit)4. Pull down lever (The can often feels too rigid to be crushed by the device without breaking, my wife struggled more with this step because of its rigidity)5. Take can outside and with heavy boots stamp on it until it crushed to a suitable size for the recycling bin!I'd ask for my money back but I've scratched it by using it several times to get it to work the way I thought it could.It's definitely not on my recommended 'must buy' list.
