J. Cole Paperback – Import, 28 May 2016

This wonderful, woeful tale is precious to me. My now-deceased mom passed on a tattered edition of this story to me several years ago. One of her fond memories of her grandma was that of her reading J Cole to her and stopping to pause, wipe a tear, and lament, "Poor J. Cole!" Written around the turn of the twentieth century, it is the sad story of a young boy who wants to find work as a servant. Seemingly a dark tale for my mother who said she was 4 or 5 years old at the time, it is a classic of children's literature during that era.
