Works well, could use some improvements
My "new" (6 months old) MS 4000 keyboard was full of crumbs and hair. I do snack at my desk and apparently also shed...a lot! I had a keyboard cover for my previous MS ergo keyboard and was quite happy with it but could not find the same brand to fit the new 4000. So I cleaned out my keyboard and went in search of a cover to keep it clean. The first version of this cover that I received had some key forms that didn't fit over the keys. The S,D,F sequence would sometimes invert as I was typing and the keyform around the 8 was warped. I communicated with Customer Service and they were quite helpful. They sent out another cover (this one in a box rather than folded up in a small bag).I asked about using a hair dryer (a la window sealing shrink wraps) to see if it would make it better and they said to give it a try and let them know. It did help somewhat with the 8 key, but the SDF kept inverting occasionally, interrupting my touch typing. The new one fits the keys much better, although still not as well as the older, heavier version I had fit its keyboard. This cover is much thinner and so it moves more easily. A few caveats still. I did not use the stickies on the cover, I lightly Scotch-taped the left, right and bottom edges. I did NOT tape it tightly as this seems to stretch the cover and lift it off the keys. I also did not tape the top as it does not form-fit to the concave curve. However, the few bits of tape hold it in place well enough, and it will be removable for cleaning as needed. I have been using it now for a couple of weeks and while the "feel" is not quite the same as a naked keyboard, it does not slow my touch typing at all. The one thing that I have found is that the F and J tell-tale bumps are not as readily felt and so my hand is sometimes on the wrong keys to begin.PROS: Keeps keyboard clean and dry! GREAT customer service!CONS: Changes typing feel, although it's pretty easy to get used to. As noted, my first one had some warps in the mold, whether from shipping or manufacture, who knows, but they made it right, right away. Light-weight, so it doesn't sit solidly on the keys. Taped in place, it works well enough and the small bit that it moves impacts feel more than function. Doesn't fit the top curve of the keyboard; I just didn't attach it there and it has not impacted function at all.OVERALL: Once I got the replacement, this cover fits well enough to touch type as fast or almost as fast as I did previously without the danger of getting something spilled in my expensive keyboard! It's very inexpensive insurance!

It's crap.
This cover does not fit. I may as well used a bag from a loaf of bread and taped it to the sides of my keyboard. Perhaps a condom made for an elephant may do a better job, but they don't sell those at my pet store. At first glance you think that it will work and the keys line up okay but nothing you can do makes this thing fit snugly enough to not interfere with typing. If you could apply the heat from a hairdryer and it became a form fit, then it would be a great purchase, but sadly no.So I bought double sided tape and applied it to every empty spot on the front of the keyboard and all around the edges. Turns out that those places were the only places it would fit, but on the keys themselves, forget it. After days of readjusting, I finally ripped it off. Peeled off all that double sided tape and now my keyboard is sticky. Qtips with goo gone to get rid of the adhesive has left my brand new keyboard pretty gross. Not happy.

Leaves a lot to be desired.
THIS IS AN UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW.PREVIOUS REVIEW: This is the first such keyboard cover I have ever used, so I don't have a frame of reference to work from, but I am not really impressed by this cover. Though it is contoured and shaped to fit the Microsoft 4000 ergonomic keyboard, it does not fit snugly over any of the keys, especially over the contoured portion of the keyboard where all of the main characters are at. It leaves a good 1/4 inch gap between the surface of the key and the cover, so that when you go to strike a key it's a two-stage process: first you have to depress the plastic to reach the key, then you must also depress the key. It is very distracting and it slows me down; maybe I will get used to it. Since I am notorious for spilling liquids on my keyboards and ruining them, I guess I'll just HAVE to get used to it. I think a few well placed adhesive pads that would secure the cover to the keys themselves, or perhaps to the apex of the contour, would have gone a long way. The adhesive strips around the edge of the keyboard that you might think would hold it in place better actually don't do anything except prevent the removal of the cover. In addition, the strips are not even properly placed: they are not contoured to fit very snugly, they overlap things that they shouldn't, and I had to use scissors to make them work.UPDATE: This keyboard cover doesn't fit any better than it used to, and everything I mentioned above still stands, but I'm adding an extra star to my review because I did eventually get used to this poorly-designed, ill-fitting keyboard cover. I don't even really think about it being there anymore, and my typing speed is pretty much what it was before. It's still lacking in the design category, but.....I've already spilled liquids and crumbs and everything else on it, and my keyboard is fine. So there ya go. :\

OK for rIght-hand keys but not for left-hand keys
The cover worked fine for the keys reached by the right hand (in the typical touch-type mode of typing). However the cover puffed up and made left-hand typing far more difficult. I gave the new arrangement a few weeks to work it out but I could still not be as accurate (and thus as fast) after applying the cover. Part of the problem is that the 4000 keyboard is concave for the left hand. One hint to the manufacturer: Would be good if you could coat the bottom with a mild adhesive (like the adhesive used for post-it notes) so that the plastic sticks to the keys rather than puffing up as I encountered.
