Wicks burn well after waxing , and the metal sustainer tabs work for remaking voltive candles.
As advertised, the package contained the spool of braided, unwaxed coton wick and a small ziplock type of bag with the circular metal sustainer tabs. The wick MUST be waxed prior to first use in a candle by either dipping into molten wax while making the candle, or by dripping molten wax onto the wick before you light the candle—without wax the wick will just burn up immediately. I have used the waxed wick and sustainer tabs (which keep the wick upright as it burns down) to make several votive candles and to re-wick a larger candle. The two votive candles on the left of the picture have their original wicks, while the two votive candles on the right are the ones I remade using these wicks and sustainers plus some excess unburned wax from some old candles. If you look carefully you will see that the braided cotton wicks in the votives I made with this kit (right) are very slightly larger than the wicks in the original votive candles (left). The resulting flames are also slightly larger for these reconstructed votive candles and the result is that the wax is more completely consumed (right) rather than having a hole burned down into it which typically happens with the original votive candles (left). The larger flames make these votive candles more suitable for powering a German Christmas Pyramid, which is what we use them for. On the far right in the picture is a re-wicked larger candle, which I constructed by drilling a small hole throught the middle if the candle and then drawing the wick through with a tiny , hooked wire and then putting the sustainer on the base and waxng the wick on top. The hole in the sustainer is slightly larger than the diameter of the unwaxed wick. You could crimp the metal around the wick, but I chose to just tie a small knot in the wick and pull that into the sustainer to fasten it. That way, I can re-use the sustainer after each candle has burned down. But if you choose to do this type of thing, be very careful of the quality of wax that you are using!! In previous experimentation I found that using wax from old Birthday cake candles resulted in large, uncontrollable, and quite dangerous flames whereas wax from old Votive candles seems to burn in a more controlled fashion. So if you choose to do this, you must be very, very careful of the results or risk a fire!

Did not come with candle making guides
Shipping was fast and no damage to the product, but I didn’t receive the candle making guide. That’s a bummer!

Great Value Wicks that worked for my needs...
I bought this to make mini candles out of recycled oui jars and the wick burns really well no smoke, soot or tunneling it burned up all the wax in the jar which is about 2.5” wide as you can see from pics.On top of that I received two free ebooks on making candles which was a great value.Just a tip for users you should definitely soak the wick in the type of wax you plan on using for your candles I followed the instructions to a T when working with my own soy blend and I’m glad I did.Hope this review helps...

Burns well but material is thin
I used this braided wick when making candles and burning parts of an art project for my class. They catch fire easily due to coming pre-waxed, but it will burn quickly. The material is a thinner material than I am use to and it burned too quick when testing it for my projects. I got around this by waxing and wetting the wick. Since it burns quickly, it will break at the point in which you light it if not contained. Overall, I am happy with the results of the candles and the project. The experimenting was necessary but it still ended up working.

These work well for candle making and wasted wax
I bought a bunch of Illume candles that burn so poorly. I was left with over a 3rd of the wax in every jar. With this wick, I twist two strands, tie at the bottom, push through the stands and wallah, all is right again with my world of constant candle burning. I also love that you can customize the length of each wick. Great value for the money!

Awesome
used these on gel candles and they really worked well. Tried wrapping one around the other and it did stick but It sparked a little. Might be user error. Im not sure. Overall, I like and would recommend.

I bought these only for the wick tabs!
I needed small wick tabs for a candle project so it was a plus it came with some wick ! the wick is not very strong but you can make 2inch diameter candles with them ! my project needs a 6d plus! but still good !
