American Furniture Classics Tufted Seat Wooden Gun Concealment Bench with Cushioned, Medium Brown

So, I read a lot of reviews about assembly and the instructions. There are no step by step written instructions, but there are a series of diagrams that could be difficult to understand by persons not mechanically inclined. I am a former broadcast engineer, so it was not that difficult for me. I think the biggest problem was locating the mounting point for the support hinges. The reason is the diagram shows the support hinges going in the wrong spot, too close to the back lid hinges. The bottom of the support hinges should be 1/2 inch from the top and 2.5 inches forward from the back.Some of the screws to the bottom spin freely during install, but luckily there are several. I would suggest using a strong adhesive on the bottom, in addition to the screws.

I don't know what some people try to store in this, but I have no problem fitting anything from a carbine to a full size shotgun and rifle in this thing. The tray can accommodate several handguns and the lock is enough to keep everything secure. I put some blankets over the false bottom and it just looks like a storage bench full of linens. Assembly was easy and it looks like a fairly high quality and well worn piece of furniture right out of the box. Comes with two keys and is easy to open and close.

A little difficult to put together, the instructions aren't really straight forward, but it wasn't hard to figure out, did come with a missing piece, nothing we couldn't find at the hardware store, over all it does look like a nice piece of furniture, haven't put any guns in it yet so can't rate on that part..

I would recommend this bench. Very nice heavy piece of furniture. The four stars are due to the instructions only being picture instructions. Should be simple enough, but the pictures are kind of small. I ordered this same bench from another company and it arrived completely destroyed as it was already put together and packaged with no foam packing materials. I was very glad to see enough foam to protect this bench. I truly believe it needs to be shipped disassembled so it can make it to you in one piece. This was gift for my husband and he loves it. It is kind of weird that we ordered the same exact bench and they were slightly different sized. Before we shipped the first one back, my husband made sure his 10g shotgun would fit and it did. The same gun doesn’t fit in this one without putting it in at an angle and even then it touches both ends of the bench. Putting it in at an angle prevents you from taking it in and out without removing all the other guns. So for now we will not store that gun in this concealment chest. That being said, we love this bench and would recommend this product.

Looks nice and functions as expected. If you are looking for a safe to secure your guns this is not for you. If you just want a low key place to store them this is perfect. The lock is not that sturdy and i would not trust it. It will be difficult to store rifles with scopes. I have a Ruger 10/22 with a scope on it but it takes up an extra slot. Pain in the ass to put together. No guide holes for screws on the hinges.

The bench looks nice and it does complement our room, but the build instructions while directionally accurate are mediocre at best. Attaching the cushion is not as idiot proof as it could be (thus only 3 stars). Additionally, some of the pieces didn't fit as tightly as I would've liked and I may end up strategically using some glue to achieve a better fit. Can't recommend it as I'm not sure I would buy this again.

Such a waste of a super beautiful and great idea..Bench came with no rivet holes for one side of bench, shelf holder drilled on wrong side and wood slats put too close to hold the shelf. Bad bad bad..and the directions were horrible! This took 3 hours just to put together and couldn't even complete because product came like a blind man pre-assembled it. Would request a replacement if I didn't have so much invested and don't like sending stuff back..Just don't buy! Save yourself the agony

The bench was easy to assemble. The only problem was with a hook that's supposed to screw into the lid when open in order to hook the handle of the inner lid to. The screw broke off when installing.
