Back to the Lake: A Reader and Guide, with 2016 MLA Update

This book LOOKED in good condition when it came out of the package but when I picked it up I was repulsed to find it was EXTREMELY sticky and covered in some sort of residue. I tried to clean as much as I could off the covers and spine but the pages still stick together and I have to try and pry them apart without tearing the pages. Also the spine is starting to crack apart and feel like it won't last the semester. Overall I'm very unhappy with what I got for the price. Do yourself a favor and either buy it from an actual used book store for slightly more so you can inspect the quality first or get the online version. :(

The tips included in the book are pretty decent for a beginning English class. I love the short stories and writings that range from serious and deeply personal to hysterical op ed types (think Mindy Kaling!). I groaned when I saw my professor had picked this for class, but I was pleasantly surprised when doing the reading. Overall, quality and entertaining for a textbook.

Very poor quality rental. I dont want the hassle of returning it and getting one in worse condition returned back to me. Its sticky.. Uncomfortably sticky, the edges of most the pages are crumbled, and just generally very beat up looking. I think this one needs to be taken out of rotation. Its had a good run, im sure.

Terrible product I thought I was getting a physical book not an electronic version on my phone that I can't have in class so dumb waste of money. I can't even return it and. Nothing in the description told me it was an electro icon copy?
