Edu-Toys Slide Making Kit

I don't use every piece, but it's a great starter/keeper kit
some of these are really basic, like the slides, but they really motivated me to expand my microscope equipment. I really like it. The blue dye is useful, I mean so many parts of this kit cover so many bases, that you don't have to go out and buy them individually - really nifty!

Don't bother.
I found lots of faults with the kit. Generally, I have been impressed with Elenco products. This isn't one of them. All the components are incredibly cheap. And to add a bottle of sodium chloride, when there isn't a household without table salt, is just making the kit look more comprehensive than it actually is.The directions are sketchy. The dyes need to be mixed with water, but there are no directions for the correct measurements. To make permanent slides you need materials that are not included in the kit. The tweezers are a joke -- cheap plastic. The vials/beakers have unknown uses. Adding them without instruction is a lot like putting the NaCl in the kit.I'll be looking for another slide kit.

Great Dyes
This is a great little kit for homeschool microscope work. We needed the various dyes, but only in small amounts -- just what this kit provides. And at $9, the price is perfect. The sea monkey growing kit is a bonus that my son is excited to try out. The slides aren't great; probably because they are supposed to be safe. pffft. Buy some real glass slides and a case to keep them in. With these dyes, the higher quality slides and a sturdy case, your kids will be making slides from any and everything in the house to examine under a microscope.

Pretty good deal
Just got mine yesterday and was glad I bought it. I'm a high schooler and bought this because it had so much stuff for not that much money. The dyes easily got for 6 dollars each on amazon, and you also get the coverslips, labels, and plastic grad. Cylinder and little specimens container. It does look a little childish but it comes with everything you need to make slides. Everything's plastic but still. Also the "prepared" slides are kind of crappy, just simple "textures" like wool and yarn( which all look the same under a microscope) and some grasshopper parts too. Also, it comes with a microhatchery for the brine shrimp which I just started yesterday so we will have to see. And in response to the questioning about the sodium chloride... It's for the brine shrimp, doesn't really say on the instructions. Oh and it comes with a little guide for some simple experiments that would be good for kids.

dont do it!
i know i started out not expecting much from this, thinking of it more as a toy, but hoped anyway. boy was that hope dashed! it is nothing but worthless. i had wanted the liquid to treat slides with. what i got was a little bit of a sponge with a little bit of a wet spot on it. thats it.. what am i supposed to do with that? description said it was supposed to be some sort of powder to add water to... nope... what a joke of a product.. dont get it for the slide prep products....

Not Great
I pulled out the styrofoam from the box and was not impressed. It all seemed, well, cheap. With scissors, I cut away the foam slide holder from the rest. Now I've got a light-weight slide holder (could float, I suppose).Seriously, I thought there would be a bit more substance to this kit, but I realize it is relatively inexpensive. Glad I got free shipping as part of a larger order from Amazon. I wish I had tried a hobby shop first for this particular item.

Great accessory kit
My daughter got a fairly decent microscope for her birthday and enjoyed playing with it, but there's something about this set that has really gotten her back into it. She's been playing with this every day since Christmas and is always looking for new things to look at under her microscope, and considers the included goggles to be a crucial part of her attire during this process.

Cheap way to get blank slides
A lot of this is questionable - especially the cheap eye protection and the plastic tweezers. This is a good way to let the kids practice making slides for themselves. The set comes with 10 glass slides and slide covers, whih you can use, wash, and re-use.A lot of what is in the box is play-science, but it was a good purchase - $10 and prime shipping.

Great kit for your little scientist.
Great little set for your mini scientist. Kids are having a lot of fun exploring what came in the kit and making their own slides with our help. My only criticism about the items is that the shrimp eggs were expired and never hatched. We'll have to do the experiment again but buy some eggs from an aquarium shop to do so.

Low quality, even for a kid's set
Plastic slides, plastic covers, no adhesive to fix them together. Some slides had cracks in them. Blank slides are not as shown. I thought this was a small selection of half-decent parts but this was a poor choice. Your kiddo will quickly ask you to buy stuff not included in this kit. D+ Not recommended.

Good starter kit.
my son really enjoyed making his own slides and the kit works well for just starting out for an 11 year old. the goggles were a little on the cheap side, however, very happy overall. Good seller and fast shipment.

Above OK OK
Nice but the contents in the bottles are very less and the I instruction manual is not providing much information about how to make a slide!!otherwise the product is good and if they improve the quantity of chemicals it would be appreciated and also the quality if manual should be improved in terms of language

5 Stars? Really?
It's for kids but it comes with a few things that are of good value. Kids and I enjoy it. Remember it's not a professional kit. If you're an adult picking up a new hobby this kit is great to start on.
