4-years later update. Well, this thing is technically still running. However, the AVI plug is dead and only HDMI out works. With that said it still produces a great picture, is easy to use and has no other problems. Would be nice if there were software updates.Bought to use on an older tv. Have tried both a thumb drive and 2.5" external USB hard drive and both worked. System took a few minutes to boot initially, but seems to run fine now. Plays avi, mp4, divx, and windows media files in addition to mp3 and photos . Advertisement says it will play mkv files. I am able to play older mkv files but anything I convert to newer/higher Def mkv does not play. I have sound but no video which tells me that codec is not on the device. There is no software update Option (would be a nice addition) so one would have to experiment with mkv formats to find one that works or go with the larger mp4/mpeg formats. Box included the device, power plug and an avi cable. The device has capabilities for avi (R,W,Y) component (G,B,R) and HDMI. The the low cost of cables, it would be nice to include all 3 options. Overall, for a $20 purchase I am pleased. It does 95% of what I wanted it for (reduced for mkv files) and I would recommend this to friends.

Worked very well, very small form factor and low power usage, depending on your use, you may have to use an audio pre amp however if just being used in an average home it will most likely be just fine. I was surprised by how user friendly the menu was and how easy it was to figure it out!

So small and simple! Turn any tv into an interactive media player. Play music, watch movies, view pictures and more! Just plug and play! Very versatile output configurations as well as compatibility with most digital format input. Don't forget to buy a usb drive, storage not included.

I bought this product hoping to be able to use the AV (NTSC Composite) video output. The AV output is poor video quality, and only outputs black and white. If you switch to PAL, the output is cleaner, but is still black and white. The HDMI output is the only one that works, so now I have to buy an HDMI to AV converter in order to use this product.

Works Great! I tested MP4, MKV, MP3, JPG's. Simple intuitive menu with nice graphics. Don't let Asian writing in photos scare you, as the players language is set to English and included a small English user manual. Couldn't go wrong for the 18 bucks I paid with free prime shipping.

Hdmi worked well but I bought it for the rca wich never worked properly. Cheap connection that broke free and is now inside of unit.
