For years I used those little plastic dollar store sewing kits for repairs. The hinges always broke on the cheap plastic lids and the contents ended up all over the junk drawer until I threw it all out. So it finally occurred to me to see if there was something better on amazon. I didn't need anything elaborate, just something I could use to repair little tears and sew on buttons, and this fit the bill.You get everything you need for the simple stuff and there's some extra room in the box if you want to add a few small items. The tools are cheap but they do the job - the scissors are fine for snipping thread, the threader hasn't broken yet. I'll eventually replace the most-used things with better quality versions. You get enough thread colors to match most things. My only real beef is that it's very difficult to start a new spool of thread - the end is hard to find. But you get a good amount of it. The box seems like it should last awhile and you can leave it in sight, unlike those plastic things that start to crack and break on first use.

This kits is pretty much trash...the only good thing is the box itself...the clippers r rusty and wverything is very very very cheaply made. The handle for the clipper is basically sheet metal bent in to make the handle...but its all open

Perfect for my needs.
