Wow - what a knife - the perfect EDC?
oooohhhh - I really like this knife. It is only my 3rd CKRT folder knife, but it as a lot going for it. First, what some people may see as the negatives: it is heavy for its size and it is a softer steel (8Cr14MoV) than the D2 I have on my other CKRT knives and certainly a lot softer than the super steels like on my ZT knives. However, I actually find both of these traits desirable.I personally like a heavier knife as it feels more controllable in my hand. I thought that this knife may be a little light because of the carbon fiber scales, but it is a solid steel frame underneath, which makes the knife very solid and stable. Another note on the scales - these are polished carbon fiber on a G10 base. That means that these can be slippery if you're using it with wet hands. As for the steel, I would have liked D2, as I would be sharpening/reprofiling a little less often, but D2 can also be a little brittle. While the 8Cr14MoV steel this knife is a stainless steel, it has the softer nature of a tool steel (think O1 or A3) with the added benefits of no rusting. These softer steels may role their edge a little easier, but they are easy to touch-up and my use of this one has shown that this steel is well heat treated and seems to do a decent job at edge retention.Another big benefit to this knife is the ball bearing that the blade pivots on. The blade stays securely closed in your pocket, yet opens lightning fast with virtually no effort when using the thumb disk and especially the flipper. The flipper also helps as a good finger guard when the knife is open. This knife fits my hand very well and is easily operated with one hand. I read some other reviews where people were having concerns with the liner lock in having it lock securely in place or be released easily. In my use (and as much as I'm really not a liner lock fan), I found this lock to be very reliable and easily released with one hand. All around, this is a fun, productive knife to use. I have carried a pricey Benchmade as my EDC for the last couple of years and it has an Axis lock instead of a liner lock, which I definitely prefer. With all that said, this CKRT is replacing it as my EDC.

Bulkier Than I Bargained For
This is a really nice piece that simply isn't right for me. I misplaced my CRKT Drifter and decided it was a good enough excuse for me to get a slightly more upscale edc. While waiting for this to be delivered, I went out and picked up a much more expensive knife from a different manufacturer. When the Avant arrived, I was very impressed with it. It looks great and the action is about flawless. There were a few reasons I ended up returning it, though. The biggest problem is that, for an edc, I discovered that I prefer something with not a lot of bulk. The Avant certainly has presence, along with heft. It simply takes up too much space in my pocket. I'd rather not be reminded of it every time I stand up.Two lesser issues were with the steel used for the blade and I had trouble reversing the pocket clip to my sinister needs. The blade is beautifully designed and finished, but concerns have been raised in other reviews about its edge retention. I simply didn't keep the knife long enough for that to be an issue, but it is a legitimate point. Also, I had trouble figuring out what the correct bit was to remove the pocket clip so I could fit it for left-handed carry. Had I decided to keep it, I would have gotten it sorted, but a cursory attempt at switching it around proved frustrating.Bottom line is that for lots of folks, this is a great choice. Just not for me.

Solid knife
One of my favorites. Came sharp and has a good weight. Blade is centered and it's a knife worth having.

A great EDC knife with a major flaw.
I bought this to replace a ZT that I carried for years, My first impression of the knife was not bad for the money. It well built, nice finishing, smooth fast open and a good look. But the Flaw is with the liner lock, It almost flush with the opposing side, so there no edge to catch with your thumb. You almost have placed your finger into the liner well to release the blade. In my opinion, CRT should have made the lock 1-2mm taller, so the user can rake their thumb over the liner well and release the blade. I was also a bit annoyed that I had to sharpen the blade right out of the box, I don't want to miss lead you the blade was sharp but five the blade steel it was no way near the blades potential to carry an edge.I would diffently buy another but wish CTR would fix this issue in the meantime I going to mill down the one side or possibly heat the lock and elevate it.

Extremely sharp!
I was a little apprehensive about getting this knife because it’s a little larger than the ones I usually buy. But once I inboxed it, I loved it. Razor sharp right out of the box. The blade was almost perfectly centered. It fits and feels great in my hand. The sheep’s foot shaped blade is very unique and heavy. This is probably my favorite from CRKT.

Fantastic
I was a tad skeptical of this knife because of price. It was higher than its peers. This is a fantastic, quality knife. The open action is without peer. The knife opens as fast ast a fully auto otf knife. With a pull of the finger it’s open and ready. Quality materials and good blade lock. A couple of issues. No option to change direction of belt clip. The little finger pull opener has potential to be inadvertently opened.
