Great oil at a great price
Shell oil is well-known in the Volkswagen community in it’s T6 5w40 variant as being a great oil for both gas and diesel turbocharged engines. It tests very well with a high detergent count to keep the engine all sparkly clean, so I decided to go with this truck oil based on that pedigree.I have a 2020 Ford F-150 5.0 Coyote V8, which is specified for 5w20, but I ran the 5w30 on the second oil change at 16,000 miles.I chose 5w30 based on availability and recommendations from techs and enthusiasts in the online community that swear by 5w30. I paired it with a Motorcraft FL-500S filter.

Rotella is Great Oil at a Great Price
You can pay more for Royal Purple or Amsoil and they are better. But for the rest of us who dont want to pay that kind of a price and just want to avoid engine wear and still go with 7500 mile oil changes, this stuff is the best.I use it in my riding mower, generator, boat motor, car, truck and recommend it to everyone. Very high quality. It is better than all or at least as good as all big name synthetics.

This woke up my truck
I own a 96 Tacoma 2.4, I've always been picky with the oils I choose, especially when it comes to full synthetic, from what I hear online be synthetic causes oil leaks and bad things to older engines. I find that true for some oils, such as Castrol EDGE you can find a ton of articles with it causing oil leaks on older engines, but besides that, I am writing this review for the Rotella oil.I usually use Mobile 1 Advanced Full Synthetic oil paired with a wix xp oil filter and I always change it around 3 to 4 thousand miles because I plan to reach a million miles on my truck, hopefully. I watched a video on YouTube by Project Farm where he put Mobil 1 and Shell Rotella Gas Truck up against each other, and as a result, the Rotella oil beat the Mobil 1 in, if I remember correctly, all the tests and what really urged me to get the oil was the price difference, Rotella is cheaper but the only issue I see when buying locally is that you cannot find 1 quart bottle for me which isn't really an issue because I own 2 other vechiles that use the same weight of oil, so it helps when the oil is at a better price. As of performance, when I started using the oil, I notice that my engine is a little quieter compared to before, and also power and mileage when up a little bit, when I do reach the oil change interval I will send a sample to a lab to be tested and also update this review.I also notice, when I first start up the truck in the morning, a cold start, around 60 degrees or less, with Mobil 1 the engine starts and the low pressure light stays on for like 2 or 3 seconds, and you can tell by the engine ROMs at first start, and when the light goes out, the engine comes back to a normal idle, with the Rotella, that dash light goes out almost instantly, so it's safe to say that at colder temperatures, the Rotella performs betterSo for now, I've been having a blast with this oil and I do plan to use this oil on my Miata Race Build and see how it performs, like the truck, it still has Mobil 1 and haven't changed it yet.Five stars to shell

Excellent motor oil for gas trucks
I usually use Mobi 1 5/30 in My GMC 1500. I like Shell Rotello products that I used on customers diesel vehicles etc and have had good feedback from customers about it. I started usingShell Rotello for gas engines and noticed right off a smoothness in my engine and also my lifters seem to function quiet than before. I am still using 5/30 weight oil. Will continue to use Shell Rotello for my gas truck. It seems to give an increase in mileage as well. Shell did a good job on this motor oil

Not For Me
I used it in a Mazda Cx5 Awd and it felt to thick , I'm not sure if its really for a higher compression engine. After two days I drained it because it felt like I lost 25 hp . I'm sure it will do fine in an F150 or something else with low compression ratio because i believe its a quality oil .

Better than Mobil 1
This oil is more pure than Mobil 1 according to testing results by project farm. Was reluctant to try this one and was married to Mobil 1, but after the results project farm posted, I think I will use this stuff in my newer tacoma for now on. If project farm is not trustworthy, then I can count on this oil because I know for a fact that big diesel rig drivers have used and depended on this stuff for years, and those guys drive in a straight line for hours upon hours in harsh conditions. If rotella, is good enough for them, then it’s good enough for my truck. Only time will tell how good this stuff is in a gasoline engine.

Good Oil - No Issues
I see no difference in this oil and other synthetics I've use in my truck. I have a Nissan Frontier and have used synthetic oil since I purchased it. After changing the oil with this I get the same gas mileage, truck drives smooth as always and the truck is not using any oil (it wasn't using oil prior to switching). It's motor oil and it works like motor oil should. I don't expect any problems but will update if anything happens. My only issue, and it's really a suggestion, is that this specifically states it for gas engine trucks. It's a 5 quart container. All trucks I've owned hold 6 or 8 quarts. I've had cars hold less than 5 quarts but trucks normally hold 6 or 8 quarts so it would be nice if oil manufacturers would catch up and start offering a 6-quart single container. I had to try and locate the same oil locally, which I wasn't able to do since its relatively new, so I had to order another 5-quart container to have enough to fill my truck. I still think it's a 5-star oil but if you're offering truck oil in a single container, put enough in it to complete an oil change (just a suggestion).
