Good Frame
This is how the pole mount is set up for a Lifetime Elite backboard. This isn't tightened down yet, or obviously no rim yet. But just to give an idea of the set up.

Perfect roof mount
I was looking for a mount for a basketball backstop on my garage. This one had three mounting configuration including a roof mount option, which I used. I had a gutter on my garage, so I used a short pressure treated 2x8 board to extend the front mounting point over the gutter. It worked perfectly. The rear mounts went directly on the roof. One really nice feature is that the construction allows to roll off the roof from behind the backstop. I hadn't thought about it at all until the ball went behind the backstop. The design allowed the ball to go to either side and then roll off the roof.

Never do what I did!
I was at Walmart looking for a hoop for my grandson. Found one made by Lifetime, took it home and found out it didn't come with a bracket essential to connect the backboard with the garage. By the time I realized that it just wasn't happening, the barn floor was full of non compatible parts. So, I got them all together and took the backboard to Walmart and returned the bracket to Amazon. Nothing wrong with either, but I got one assembled at the Middlebelt flea market for 20$. Advice: Get everything from the same place or go to a flea market first. Remember they're only kids for a short time, hopefully yours will leave. Mine didn't

Good value for the money.
After reading several of the reviews (good and bad) I ended up ordering this product as it was the most I wanted to spend for a roof mount of my basketball hoop.OK - Here's my 2 cents!1 - This product does NOT include the screws to mount it to the roof. The manual clearly states that the screws are not included. This actually makes sense since the manufacturer doesn't know if you're going to mount it into wood, metal, tile, so this didn't phase me. $3.00 worth of lag screws at the local hardware store was all I needed.2 - The instructions... well they crammed a BUNCH of languages into it! BUT they are actually easy to follow if you sit down and read them in your living room in a nice comfortable chair... in the air-conditioning instead of in the direct heat of the sun in the driveway. :) This product can be mounted three ways - to a pole, to the wall, or to the roof. The first section of the instructions is putting the brackets on the backboard, then you have to look for the section that applies to your mounting style.Construction - Well, it's similar to other Lifetime products in this price range. It's very basic but the metal is a bit thicker than what comes on Lifetime's $100-$200 portable unit. I was actually pleased with the thickness of the metal compared to the existing bracket on the backboard.I would buy this again.

Sturdy
Very sturdy but was missing a few bolts and brackets that attaches to the backboard. Had to go to Home Depot to buy the missing parts/bolts. Looks great and works well tho. Make sure your backboard is compatible with the mount

After purchasing this backboard, along with a lifetime universal ...
After purchasing this backboard, along with a lifetime universal mount, I no longer I have a relationship with my father. The turmoil from trying to follow the impossible directions was more than we could handle.I first purchased the Lifetime 73729 48 in. Shatter Proof Backboard Rim Combo and bought the Lifetime 9594 Universal Mounting Kit to go with it. I was as told it was compatible. That was an exaggeration. I had to use a kitchen knife to cut several parts to make things fit.The directions to mount the backboard were so long, complicated, and impossible. I called customer service a few times for assistance. The ladies I spoke with were helpful, but some of the steps were just so insane there was nothing they could do. You’ll know what I mean when you get to step 3 on page 6. How on earth are you supposed to get that second push nut on? Impossible. I called to confirm that I was following the directions. The customer service representative’s response was, “It’s supposed to be hard.” Well, then they nailed it.I really lost it when I finally got the rim attached to the backboard and had to then screw the plastic boarder around the rim. There were no pre-drilled holes in the backboard, so there was no way to get the screws into the metal. It said to use an electric screwdriver, which I tried, but there was no way those screws were going into the backboard. There were so many steps, so many missing pieces, so much heartache. SO many swear words.I think it would be impossible for anyone who is not in the construction industry to put this thing together.Luckily, the handyman is on the way. So, expect to pay another $100 to have this thing installed for you.
