My favorite notebook! Even with watercolors!
My favorite notebook. Pages are thin, which I like. There will definitely be ghosting - so if that bothers you, you will not want this notebook. I love it though. It holds up well to watercolor & Posca paint markers. It wrinkles, but not too much. High quality, smooth paper.

Love my stalogys!!
I LOVE these little notebooks! They are amazing to write in and use for commonplacing, journaling, bullet journals, you name it! The paper is always amazing, and you can't beat the price!! I'm so thankful that my Barnes and Noble is carrying them now so I can pick them up at any time!

So happy with this!
I spent WAY too much time trying to decide between getting a Stalogy or some kind of Hobonichi, and in what size. I'd never tried either of them before, but I decided on this one (helps that it's cheaper) and am glad that I did! I loved it right away - the way things write on it (smoothly, but with just a bit of feedback), the crinkliness of the pages (especially after they've been painted on), and just the freedom to do whatever. Since getting this, I've also tried a sample of Tomoe River paper (what's in Hobonichi notebooks), and I prefer the Stalogy. I watched a video where someone said Tomoe River feels like receipt paper, and Stalogy feels more like parchment, and I totally agree! You can see in my pen test that everything ghosts in this, as expected. The only bleedthroughs were my Sakura Microperm, which bleeds through everything, and the Pilot Parallel, which was so obviously bleeding through immediately that I only wrote the letter "P." The Kuretake Zig dot marker I tested is somewhere between ghosting and bleeding - I can't decide! It was either the heaviest ghoster or the lightest bleeder... I did some paint tests, too. The Kuretake Gansai Tambi paints seemed to work best (stayed on the surface more, less warping), but I've mostly been painting with my Da Vinci set (used in the third picture), which works just fine. And I've very happy with the a5 size! Room to write/draw/paint without being too big.

amazing, so glad I got this, waxing poetic
A year ago, I would have never believed I would even purchase, let alone love, a notebook like this. It notoriously ghosts, but I actually have come to love even that about the paper. Before, I think I conflated ghosting and bleeding - that one implied the other. Or that ghosting would mean you can't read what's on the current page. But none of that is true. This proprietary paper does ghost because each sheet is so thin, but it does not bleed (with almost all the pens I use - namely gel and fountain). And the thinness of the paper allows for so many more pages in one book so it will last so much longer than a standard book. I am a total convert, I love this notebook so much. The grid in the A5 is perfect - 4mm and super light but still visible enough. Sure the dates at the top are impossibly small but they're easy enough to ignore or use if you want. One thing that really irritates me about Stalogy in general, however, is that the printed grid size is not consistent between their notebooks. I love the smaller 4mm grid in the A5 but I want to try a B6 size notebook but B6 and A6 only have the bigger 5mm grid. I can't find anywhere that explains why this is the case, and I can't think of any logical reason why the smaller dimension notebooks don't also have the smaller printed grid inside.

Fountain pen friendly notebook at a great price
This notebook has everything I’m looking for in a journal. The paper is thin with a nice smooth texture and subtle grid. It is fountain pen friendly but it’s also great with my favorite Uni-ball One gel pen and highlighters. The binding is strong and the book lays flat, even towards the end of the book when some other notebooks might feel bulky or lumpy. I also love the clean aesthetics of the cover and the rounded corners. With 388 pages, the book is excellent value for money, and it feels substantial but not too heavy. I highly recommend this notebook!

I love this notebook!
I absolutely adore this notebook.Recently, I’ve fallen in love with Tamoe River paper - the thin yet strong paper found in Hobinichi planners, but I wanted just a blank journal. The paper in the Stalogy notebook is very similar, but slightly better. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but I like it.If you’re not familiar with this type of paper, it’s very thin, and so smooth. I love it because it gives my planners/journals character. When you write on the paper and use it, it takes on a life of its own. It’s gets crinkly, and there’s texture, and you can sort of see through the page, and feel the ghost of what you wrote on the previous page.Anywho, I did get the A5 and it’s turning out to be a bit bigger than I needed but I’m taking notes for the next time. It’s ALMOST perfection, the only two things that it’s missing in my opinion are a band to keep it closed, and numbered pages. Both things are easily solved so it’s not a deal breaker at all, just a personal preference. This will definitely not be my last!

For those still looking
This has been a great solution to what has felt like a never ending problem. The use of these journals are endless. Planner, journal, brain dump, whatever. I have had zero issues with bleeding. Slight ghosting depending on ink type but Def no bleeding. The cover is not thick, rather flimsy (my only gripe). The paper feels wonderllful and smooth. I live to write on it. Graph lines to help stay organized and neat. Price is perfect for the versatility.
