Fantastic, better than expected
I work in a fleet repair shop that I like to call the cave, because it is so dark and hard to see what you are doing. I bought this because I wanted to be able to keep my hands free while putting light on what I am doing and I didn't want to use a standard drop light cause they are a pain when trying to get them to hang and I was always burning myself on them.Anyway, this head light is awesome, I love the adjustable beam, wide area to narrow focused, and the pivoting head. When it arrived I thought the pivot point of the light looked flimsy and would break quickly, but it hasn't. I bought this in April of 2013 it is now February of 2014 I use it every single day in the shop while working and I have hit it several times against the under side of the trucks and even dropped it a few times. It is still working great. I also like the adjustable power output I start with it on medium and when it starts to get dim I turn it up to max and get a little more time from the batteries. Also the head band is removable so you can wash it when you need to. I can't really comment on the life of the batteries, they are rechargeable, but I bought a pack of them so I could just swap them out instead of having to wait for them to charge. and they are all getting weak. However I do remember that when it was new I was impressed with how long they lasted, that said, even with my weak ones I get 2 to 3 days of off and on use, probably 3 to 5 hours a day.PRO'SAdjustable beam, tiltable headAdjustable power controlRechargeableRemovable head band for washingSolid durable unit, takes some abuse and keeps workingCON'SNONELove this light, if I ever need to I will definitely get another one.

Excellent light. A few minor inconveniences, but well worth the price!
The rundown:This is an excellent little light. I am a helicopter mechanic and required a light to work on tight spaces for inspections that last extended periods of time, and this light is perfect for it. It is not too bulky, the batteries last a long time if you don't keep it at max (which you really don't need to. Even the lower light settings are fairly bright). The light setting is adjusted in the back and is very nice/easy/convenient to adjust. This light is well designed. The light will NOT "slide" down your forehead. Good materials used to build it.The good:*It has 4 tilt positions (I wish it had one more to tilt it upward, but it works fine the way it is)*Has an excellent spotlight-to-wide angle range.*It has a sliding-type of dimmer in the back that works great.*The weight is very well distributed and does not feel heavy-sided neither in front (lamp), nor in the back (batteries)*The elastic can be adjusted easily to fit your head size, and it will not move on its own.*Good, strong aluminum body. Have dropped it several times from up to 10 feet, and she keeps working like a champ! The bad:*The lamp CAN come off the elastic strap (it just sort of "half detaches", but doesn't always happen,)*It takes a long time to charge (but for what I understand, you can use regular AAA. I have NOT tried/needed that as of yet, even when I USE it for up to 9 almost-nonstop-hours)*The lamp on your forehead could use a little more/softer padding (especially when you're wearing the thing for close to 10hrs a day, some days). The Ugly:*When in really tight spaces, the dimmer in the back can be moved by close by objects inadvertently. THAT could be annoying. For the price, though, this light is perfect and way better than other pricier/bulkier lights out there. This is why I gave it five stars: Because "the good" far outweighs "the bad" and "the ugly", in my opinion, and I would buy the same exact one again, if this one broke.

My first one lasted 12 years
I bought my first one 12 years ago. I use it religiously for work and I have not exactly been gentle with it. It still works, the only reason I’m replacing it is because the wire harness from the battery pack to the light has gotten brittle and causes the light to flicker. This is an amazing headlamp. Very bright and large focus area, can be focused smaller, very durable, long lasting battery charge, 12 years later and the battery still holds charge for hours on end. Highly recommended.

Won’t hold charge
Bought for Christmas, it’s February and now won’t hold a charge and can’t find the battery on here to replace it. Very frustrating.

Very good and light LED Lenser headlamp
The LED Lenser H7R Rechargable LED Headlamp is very good and light. The H7R were my #2 and #3 headlamps (bought 1 year apart). My first LED Lenser headlamp one was similar but not rechargeable and was not as bright - not recommended. The main issue that I had was NON-CONSTANT brightness.Manufacturers do this for several reasons:- cheaper product- higher claimed light output (in lumen)- higher run timeThe above is all nice but the drawback is that it really does not give you the best performance. For example, if headlamp is rated for 200 lumen that will only last for few minutes with fresh batteries. However, soon after, the headlamp may be producing only 100 lumen.I have just purchased headlamp #4 and it is almost perfect (Led Lenser H14R Flashlight). The H14R has long run time and CONSTANT-OUTPUT.The only complaint against H14R is that it is using 4xAA NiMh bateries which are inferior to Li-Ion. Instead, the manufacturer should have used 18650 or 14500 size Li-Ion. In any case, H14R is the best headlamp that I was able to find.
